Balancing issues.
Ever tried playing a PC game using controller against somebody using mouse? It is completely unbalanced, you will get your @ss handed to you so fast, because it is unfair.
Not to mention the risk of cheaters and so on. Aim bots really suck!

The mass exodus from Sony is pretty bad. Key people are leaving in droves. Despite what they claim, it is all political, because you don't want to upset people that you might have to work with again.
Frankly looking at those pictures, it is really hard to make out the differences.
Point being, diminishing returns on graphics. Rather more excited about gameplay and new technology. Kinect, Azure and maybe VR if they can fix the VR sickness and uncomfortable headset.

It is said that MS gets more from each Android OS on each handset than Google. That is because Android infringes (or at least is believed to be infringing) on MS patents.
You cannot re-create an Xbox 360, and resell it for profit, can you? That is because the technology around the platform is owned by MS. Otherwise, we would have gazillion copycats and very few innovators.
Android/Chrome is using some technology that likely based off some of MS technology (directly or indirectly)), thus MS is expected to get a licensing fee even though Android/Chrome is Google technology.
This protects the patent holders investment, and when the patent time is over, the technology goes into the public domain and anyone can use it completely free to the benefit of society. That is the idea at least!

In my long gaming experience (think many decades=, I have not seen this sort of mass exodus from anyone single company in the time span.
