Since when has homebrew only been about making emulators to play roms or finding ways to used unowned products. Homebrew could result in people making there own games run on the PS3, maybe some new apps, a better browser, etc.
Yes, there's always gonna be a downside, like hacking. But hell, downsides apply for everything in life. We don't even know for a FACT if Geohot and this group of hackers intent was for pirating, and won't until they're proven guilty or ...
I wouldn't go THAT far and call them scum. I'm an optimistic person--so maybe, just maybe, they were only hacking the PS3 for homebrew. Though I know others who might use these hacks may be doing so in the name of piracy.
This whole thing has been crazy since Sony removed otherOS because of Geohot messing around with linux way back when. Do I think Sony should have removed it? No, but that's only because I don't think the intent was for piracy.
Good review, but the thing that gets me with these reviews of LBP2, and even dating back to LBP, are the comments about the platforming. LBP was never intended to be as tightly controlled as say a Mario game.
It is a physics based platformer. Using my logic, I believe the reason the jumping is "floaty" as they say, is because it IS a physics based platformer. Maybe MM just wanted the jumping that way because sackboy is made of very light materials. Since this is a p...
It may or may not be beaten. The end of the year is a long ways off. Soooo many games. U3, ME3, P2, R3, InF2, GoW3, Last Guardian (if it's out in 2011), FFv13 (a man can dream), and many more.
Really though, I wish Amazon would ship the game already. They probably have piles of the game just sitting in warehouses waiting to be shipped. I wish games could be delivered as soon as they are available to a retailer. Start shipping out pre-orders first, then the rest.

Finally! At least someone understands what IGN doesn't. CES is not a gaming trade show. It's simply about all consumer electronics. That's why there is an E3 that focuses mainly on gaming.
First off, regarding download speeds--it's not true for everyone as the editor states. For me downloads are very quick, even over wifi. Even faster with ethernet plugged in.
On tax, that's a different story. I live in Alabama. I have never been taxed when making online or PS store purchases. But for some reason, in either november or december, I started noticing Sony adding tax on my PS store purchases all of a sudden. Yet when I purchase something digitally or whatev...
Holy crap! It caught me off guard when I saw that. Definitely didn't expect that many sales. That marketing was genius. Oprah, Ellen, $500 million, etc. Sony needs to take a page from MS's book in this area.
Anyway, good job MS. While I still don't think Kinect is actually anything great, others in this world obviously do. Marketing speaks! That is all.
Why? Simple....Marketing. Bam! That's the answer.
Move feels like something people are already familiar with. Sony didn't market this to show the differences between the move and the wiimote. Therein lies their mistake. The move just doesn't seem "New".
Kinect is being marketed as something new, when in reality and in my opinion it is not. It's simply human nature to want what is SEEMINGLY new and unknown.
Great start for gamers.
For those who didnt read the article, it's not about Sony not letting the costume dlc on the ps store. It's about data.
Example: If you buy a costume in LittleBigPlanet, you can see it along with everyone else who has the game regardless of if they bought it or not. They just can't use the costume for their character.
In SSF4, the only people who can see the dlc costumes are those who purchase it. The dlc data isn't given to everyone. See, sim...
I'm not a fanboy and I don't think it's Sony's fault. Nor capcom's. If you want to see the dlc costume, then you'd buy it. Unless, there was no way to see what the costume looks like without buying it.
If that is the case, then yes I would blame Sony. Not for not being able to see the dlc in game, but not allowing a preview of what it looks like before purchasing.
Why would someone who didn't buy the costume dlc even care whether they can see it or not. If there is no way to preview the outfit in the ps store then I could sorta understand though.
Though I am getting this day one (got it pre ordered), I CANNOT say goodbye to GT5. Something about it keeps pulling me back in even when the AI sometimes pisses me the heck off and makes me never want to race again. Hehe.
Anyways, I can't wait for this game!!
Only 50 bucks, for real?! That's really messed up, at least for Harmonix employees and whatnot. They have got to be feeling bad in some form or another to know that they were sold for so little.
Before anyone says anything, yes I read the article. It's just that to hear that amount as an employee or even founder of Harmonix has got to be at least a LITTLE disheartening.
Edit: Though music game sales have dwindled, I wouldn't say Harmonix's gam...
Yes, yes it is. It's the best water simulation I've seen so far. I read the translated article, but I couldn't tell if it was saying this was actual game engine rendering software that could run on pc's or just some cg vfx.
7.6 million Kinects and 7.3 million Moves is A LOT more than I would've predicted.
This is great. I'm also very glad they didn't pull a capcom with Mega Man Legends 3. If this had of actually been Kingdom Hearts 3, I'd of lost my mind. Sequels to big franchises, in my opinion, should be enjoyed on home consoles and/or PC. Though there's nothing wrong with it releasing on a handheld alongside a console/PC release
I REALLY hope this makes it to the U.S. store. Hell, I hope it makes it to every PS store.
I liked this game more than FF7....Yeah, I said it.
Hot dang....CryEngine 3 on PC is a beast. Looks NOWHERE near this good on the consoles....I need a new PC.
I just recently got FF13. It's not as bad as other people have made it out to be, but I will admit that is lacking in some areas compared to past FF's.
