This is not console specific. Depth of field must be done in layers, and it's typically done in three or so. There's very few ways to make the depth of field effect in games have a smooth transition from what's in focus and what is not. You can clearly see the transitions, even in games like Half Life 2, where it's rarely used. Developers avoid this by using the depth of field only in extremes. It's either very close, (an entirely blurred screen or like your portal gun in Portals, which is al...
Alright guys, let see you make some better looking mods. Especially when they're all about a quarter done.
True, but then you have screenshots like these. I hate starting crap but the track just looks awful in the first one. The second makes me think they really should have just left the car's lighting to specular and normals. Yeah, the car is all nice and high-poly, but those spiked, low-res hard shadows drive me crazy. The screenshots almost look like they're new in build as you progress down.
Are you insane? The difference may not be very clear in other games, but in Crysis the difference between 9 and 10 is definitely there and noticeable, even if some of the features added may be possible in 9. I'm not even sure what the hell you're trying to say in the second part of your post, or whether you're too lazy or too drunk. Either way, of course it looks like Far Cry.. it's from the same exact people.
Well, the previous installments were some of the best arena-style combat you can get online. So nobody cared if the single player sucked. What's wrong with trying though? Co-op is going to breathe some life into single player, and we now know epic is capable of a good single player experience from Gears.
Barbie Island Princess,
Imagine: Fashion Designer.
Oh man, I've been waiting for so long!
Tell that to all the people buying it.
Holy crap, this video is old. This was long before they announced they were working on a 360 version and it was going to be coming out later than the PS3 version.
Too true unfortunately. I found it fun, but it was a shame that I was recognizing enemy death cries and character animations from Call of Duty 2. I know this game has sniper missions and all, but I can also see the single player turning into repeats of running into new areas and killing in a spam fest that your ears grow tired of hearing. Kinda like the previous installments... The Modern concept brings some new interesting things, like the helicopters, but deep down this still feels like the...
Does this game run in true 1920x1080? Or is it some weird upscaled crap we're seeing on too many damn games? I haven't done my homework.
All the lag is coming from the fact that there's no way to make a dedicated server yet. People are having trouble connecting because of just that too. 90% of the people hosting games don't even have the right router ports open to let others join.
Edit- Clicked reply comment for yours by mistake. Should have been separate.
You need the fastest of Pentium 4's to play it on the absolute lowest settings.
I think the "demo not coming" only applies to console users, at least for now. Epic has always released demos before launch on computers to test the game on as many hardware configurations as possible. That's not a problem on consoles obviously. The UT community online for PC, including myself, are extremely picky about gameplay mechanics. :) In Unreal Tournament 2003, the final build was a lot different than the demo... at least to us.
There's definitely some sort of self-shadowing going on there. It's just that it's a lot more complex and not the hard shadows we're used to seeing in games. The sun also looks like it's in a different position, and they are standing in the shade of the structure.
Awesome, now they can focus on bringing me my UT3.
Wow, what is that crap? It looked like there's a possibility in fun factor, but otherwise that's no where near today's standards.
I hate people who makes these complaints, but is this really news?
I like how he talks about realism. When in reality, it's probably just going to be how easy it will be for you to snap your thumbstick from one side to the other to get your car sideways.
Isn't the picture of her breast right smack in the middle of the banner enough?
Too good at Metroid Prime, maybe.
