If this was a nintendo game, it would already be gone.
That's a marketing issue. If this gets marketed properly, no one will view it as a tablet. Also, power isn't everything. I doubt the Shield TV will have the same quality games as the Switch. The only advantage it may have over the Switch is streaming games from a dedicated gaming computer.
Handheld or not. No one is going to view this a tablet. Tablets serve a much different purpose. This is a dedicated gaming machine.
They're hoping to beat the Nintendo Switch in Google searches.
"Nintendo only releases rehash after rehash. That's why I will never buy a nintendo system. They should just go 3rd party so I can play their games on my PS4."
People talk about power, but maybe Nintendo isn't trying to capture Sony / Microsoft's market. Personally, I would much rather have a system that is different from my PS4 /X1, than one that is a carbon copy but with Nintendo games. It also helps that I'm (seemingly one of few) that enjoyed the motion controls on certain games. If the Switch gets Overwatch or Rainbow six siege with gyro controls like splatoon, the Switch may become my platform for shooters.
Between my PS4, X1, and maybe Switch, I too will have a steady flow of games. And I have the added benefit of being able to choose what game I want to play without worrying about exclusives.
And for me that's fine. I mean let's be real. Mario Kart hasn't really changed much since Super Mario Kart, but it's still great fun. As for Smash Brothers, I'm not really sure how they can top Smash 4, so new characters / stages is just fine with me.
That's my point. Even if the Switch had the same specs as PS4, a direct port still wouldn't be possible.
For those who may not know, direct ports are also not possible across Windows and Linux even with identical specs.
You do own your digital games forever. You do not however have the capability to re-download them forever, so you'll have to have the storage space to keep the game forever. So the trade off is really physical space vs hard drive space.
Setup hotspot on mobile phone.
Connect switch to hotspot.
???
Profit.
Then pay $$$ to your cell company for data overages.
I'll buy 10 and sell the other 9 at retail value. Screw the scalpers.
I don't really understand this huge obsession with graphics. If they still made quality games for the 360 / PS3, I would still buy them. If they can make a GTA V on those systems, then what more can really be accomplished with these new systems. Better graphics and that's it? There are no current gen games that surpass GTA V in scale.
@Phunky, every version of smash bros has been great. I get that not everyone enjoys smash bros, but there are a large amount of people that do. I would even argue that smash bros has more people that play it for a long time than most other games.
Hey, man. Some people earn their living from clicks.
I will buy every Nintendo console that has smash bros on it. Smash 4 carried the Wii U for me and it will carry the Switch as well. Any additional games are a bonus. Smash is a game that I play almost every time we have company over.
A good game is a good game, regardless of how long it took to show up. I will never turn down a good game that is at my door step.
I did not play all the last gen games I wanted and have a huge backlog on PS3 and a smaller backlog on 360. Plus thanks to Games with Gold, I have been able to enjoy Deux Ex and Xcom for the 1st time on my xbox one and will likely buy the sequels after I've completed the originals.
I play video games because they're more fun than watching whatever reality drama my wife is watching.
