"However, it looks like the real movers and shakers in the world of digital distribution come from a very unlikely source."
All gaming innovations, in both gameplay, graphics and peripherals begin on PC.
Gaming started on PC's period. Before the atari...there was PC. All those genre's of games you know and love...started on PC. That 'new' tech you love on console's...already on PC. Those 'uber graphics'...not by PC standa...

Crysis boss, tell me that's not bad ass...
Republic commando was a great game on xbox, i'd pick it up for PC on the cheap.
@CoffeewithChess
What are your specs and what res are you running?. If your PC is less than 3 years old, even it it's cheap, and you are running 1440x900 or 1680x1050, you should be able to run it on high ( not very high ) @ around 30 frames. It's a great game even without the graphics cranked up.
I'm jealous you bastard, I contemplated buying the ltd edition just because it was so cheap...but the voice inside said "no it belong to the poor, no says the man in russia; it belongs to everyone. I dared to dream of a new ideology, i dreamed...of rapture" _ Andrew Ryan Intro to bioshock
Considering half the games at E3 will be coming out in 2011, the list is short
I bought the standard bioshock 2 because the limited edition ones were crazy overpriced....turns out I wasn't the only one that thought that. 90% of retail stores still have the rapture editions + whatever the hell the other ltd edition one was called... and they are selling them for less than the regular just to clear shelf space...
They could have made an awesome game out of X:Men wolverine, it's a shame it didn't get the same budget and attention Batman AA did. But I think now that they have seen that actually making quality games like Batman AA yields much larger sales that a 2/10 movie tie in mess like terminator...we may actually see more carefully crafted/more adult super hero/action movie tie in games.
That's where I got it from, great store. You should check out their website though, for new games, it's $10 cheaper than their in store prices across the board and free delivery.
I said "from memory"
What that means is that the difference should be so significant given the number of years and difference in hardware I played the two games on. But looking at it, it did not look significantly different to the other games. Obviously if I had them side by side it would. But that is my point, the difference should be so profound that it is immediately obvious of the visual leap....but there was not. It just looked the same to me as the PS2 game di...
I bought a second copy of mirrors edge on PC for $4 in store...yeah man PC gaming is so expensive...that was AUS pricing too so call it $2U.S
Good day good sir.
N4G always pulls me back for the same ol' B.S. I'm a sucker for punishment.
Getting my gtx480 tomorrow finally :D
It's been a long time between drinks of the transistor kind.
It might be hot and loud but it sure is fast, I'm going straight from 700/1400/924 to 850/1700/1000.
@dchalfont
Haha cheers, yeah OpenCL is the way, I could use my gtx280 as a physx...
You are an idiot...I know that. I said if they had gone with a lesser CPU and a better GPU games would look and run much better. That is a universal truth. On PC too, if you have a dual core and a good video card it will run games twice as good as having the fastest CPU money can buy ( i7-980x ) + a gtx260...
I don't even care if it's full HD< as long as it has HDMI so it can upscale, seriously, component cables on a HDTV @480p is like running blu ray over VGA cables...
"you think your ass is going to age like wine and get better with age, it does age like wine....in that it turns to vinegar after it's gone on too long"- Marcellus Wallace - Pulp ficition.
I think it was a 6 at launch....a 4 now.
Agreed, terrible driving mechanics...I mean seriously, I can take a sharp corner at 60kph, in GTAIV, you do a 360 trying to take a corner at 30...
They took away the RPG mechanics....which made it more appealing to just cut and run than stay and battle it out for the experience points...
Graphics are way overrated, I played GTA III and SA on my PS2 and vice city on my xbox on a CRT TV and I played GTAIV on my PC @1080p and there was no visual difference from...
"the arm processors IS"
"720p/60frame games OR"
Fixed + facepalm
"have you ever spelled a word so wrong spellcheck doesn't even know what to do, it starts throwing out random words like "dinosaur". You've got a million dollars of software staring back at you like "you've got me buddy, and that's pretty amazing because I have all the words" - Bill Burr
Sounds good, the arm processors and crazy powerful for their size and power use, I imagine if they used a few of them in parallel it would get the cpu job done. I still don't know why they don't use unified architecture. If the console's had even gone dual core + a better GPU the there might have been more 720p/60frame games of 1080p/30frame games.
I owned all 3 console's last gen, and rarely used my PC. This generation the console's were overpriced and in my opinion weren't significantly better graphically than the last gen, unlike the massive jump from PS1 to PS2, or N64 to gamecube.
The games cost $10 on console's and a lot of my favourite franchises weren't there at launch....we have only just got an FF game now... there was no mario game at launch...
People always change how the...
But you don't see people loyal to brands outside of gaming abusing each other the way gaming fanboys do...
I have bought every nintendo console and handhelds because I liked their games and products...but I was never a nintendo fanboy and they certainly don't deserve unconditional worship. Same goes for people here, some people have always bought sony...so they should continue to do so, that doesn't justify the way they behave to each other...
I don't think there are any LESS people posting in the forums now, it's just the select few forum post spammers do not come here any more. It's always been the way that half threads created get no responses, those that do, get very few, and maybe 1 out of 20 forum threads gets more than 20...
There are probably less than 50 regular forum posters. With threads like randomocity creating an exclusive little club of post spammers it discourages others from posting in ...
