I was a little disheartened after seeing the Ratchet and Clank screenshots (they looked good, and my errant initial reaction was that they couldn't be done on xbox). But I must say, Mass Effect has brought me back to the fold. Those first two shots especially---They're unbelieveable!
About Too Human: Silicon Knights released a blog video on ign (haven't checked whether this was posted as news yet) and they talk about the development process. After almost a year's worth of silen...
But I'll jump on the hype train for this one! Those graphics are undeniable. They're amazing!
As a proud 360 owner, it pains me to say it, but I have to admit--- I don't think the 360 could pull off those graphics. I'd love for Banjo-Kazooie to prove me wrong, but I highly doubt it.
Kudos to Insomniac. And to PS3.
I checked around, and it looks much better in motion. As is often the case with a lot of games. I'm not blown away, but I definitely retract my former statement about looking bad. It looks good. Fun as well.
I'm not trying to start a "flame war" or whatever. I just want someone to tell me: What, exactly, is so impressive about the graphics in Heavenly Sword?
I don't see it. In fact, I think it looks quite bad.
Is it the art direction that everybody likes? Or is there a bunch of technical stuff going on that isn't apparent in the screenshots? I'm not trying to get under anybody's skin, but I genuinely want to know why everybody likes it.

It's the same, except a crappier summary.
I think it's hilarious how so many videogame sites take stories like that, they take a couple quotes from of an interview and then present it likes it's investigative, instead of just going: Frankie did an interview. Here's the link--
There's only one new picture, and I think it looks fine. The area it's taken in is darker than the usual screenshots we see, which hides some of the detail, but it's not some major "compression" issue.
Compare it to this screenshot, and it looks fine.

Two of the screenshots look good, two look awful. I haven't lost any confidence in the game however. The graphics will be good, and we all know the gameplay is going to be awesome.
The Elite does NOT come with the 65 nm chip. They haven't announced when they'll switch to 65 yet (though probably by the end of the year). But if you're getting the elite for the new chip, DON'T! It uses the same 90 nm as the 360s from launch day.
Just didn't want you to make an expensive error!
Check the 3rd to last paragraph:

For whatever stupid reason--copyright, baloney, whatever--they're not allowing Marketplace to release in Europe. I don't think it's Microsoft holding it back, because marketplace could be fairly profitable in Europe, just like in the US, and why deny themselves another mass of potential buyers?
The Elite releases in Europe a little bit after the US. My guess--- Microsoft is in negotiations with certain movie/tv people, and they're trying to find a solution to copyright issues. Hope...
"On the video front, Microsoft announced a slew of new partners for Xbox Live Marketplace video on demand. The new partners include: New Line Cinema...National Geographic, action sports network Total Vid, Japanese anime network ADV Films, and Warner Bros HD."
New Line, Nat. Geo., and Warner Bros-- That's some of the best 360 news I've heard in a while!!!
since I was really looking forward to finally seeing GTA4, but I can't help but feel disappointed. The graphics are nowhere near what I was expecting (on top of which, apparently you don't play as an American).
Since the trailer gave no hint as to the differences in gameplay, the only thing to go off was graphics. And the reason they were disappointing, is in comparison to something like 2 Days to Vegas:
And I agree about the 120 gb. I wasn't planning on getting it, and now that it's $180, I de...
It'll be interesting to see the month-to-month comparison over the next year.
Bad parenting + typical lawyers = frivolous litigation
I just don't understand what the big deal is-- The Elite is EXACTLY the same as current 360s, except with a different cable coming out the back!
When the Elite comes out, currently owned 360s aren't going to suddenly stop working. HD component isn't going to die the instant Elite hits the market. So really, what's the problem here? Essentially all they've done is released a bigger harddrive, and allowed for people holding off because of HDMI, to "jump in."
...
Disappointing...
this shouldn't even be in the PS3 section. I'd suggest switching it to 360 news, and changing it from "news," to the recently added subcategory: "Flamebait"
"On balance, this is a very smart move by Microsoft, but it appears to validate Sony's strategy, and serves as an acknowledgement that HD content matters."
I thought MS already showed HD content mattered when they opened up the marketplace to downloadable movies and television shows?
So what if Microsoft is releasing a new 360? The Elite is just a bigger hard-drive and a different cord. Apart from that, it's the exact same thing, so who really cares? Se...
Which is good considering the stage this footage is taken from.
Frankie:
"All of the game footage in this doc was taken during the Alpha stage and isn’t even representative of what you’ll see in the Public Beta, let alone the final game. You will see frame rate skips, unfinished animation and graphical features that will change come Fall. All the footage is clearly marked Alpha. You’re looking at the features here folks, not the final quality bar – which we’ve set ...
