New IP from an unproven developer. Of course it will sell no where near as well as Gears 2. Anyone who thought it would needs a major reality check.

About a year and a half ago, the PS3 was doing incredibly badly. In fact, a lot of people didn't even regard it as serious competition for the Xbox. But in the space of a year, the PS3 has closed the gap at a rapid pace. And is still ploughing on.

First of all, LBP is also the start of a possible franchise. It is also an entirely different game to Gears. Gears has one storyline and online. LBP you can make anything. Yes, JRPG is very popular. But people act as if, since a game is a JRPG, it will automatically sell well in Japan, regardless of anything else. And if your a Japanese gamer, you must like JRPGs.
