Sony profits dropping 90% and the company in turmoil? What are you on about? You do realise Sony don't just make consoles, don't you? Sony's profits were cut, but not by 90%, and there not in turmoil, or they would have drastically cut funding for SCE at least, and most likely gone into liquidation, both of which they have not done.

It won't necessarily be the best graphics of this gen, but it uses it's own engine (also being used in GOW3 methinks, giving that the likelihood of it looking just as fantastic) which took a very long time to make. There aren't really any other engines out there capable of producing this level of quality graphics (Gears 2 does look very good, but that is probably the limits of the current version of the Unreal Engine), true, there may be one in development, but with MS having a target release...
The clue is in the title. Killzone 2 MULTIPLAYER Beta. Granted, the actual footage looks like campaign, but the faults you described with the AI are the same on every single FPS. And judging by the fact he's rarely getting hit, it's most likely on the easiest difficulty setting.

Has it occurred to you that the PS3's current '09 line up is likely to be incomplete? There's roughly 6 more Sony Published titles, (meant to be announced at TGS) and the Team Ico Game. Granted, not all will release in '09, but several will, and MS will need to release a lot to compete with the PS3's line up, and expected quality of these games.

I'm also from the UK. Around PS3 launch there was loads of adverts for it, but I haven't seen any recently. All are Xbox.
