But that's the point of a game, to give you a challenge to surpass. Story is always secondary, although sometimes it becomes primary...
Let us not forget that we're PLAYING GAMES, not WATCHING MOVIES. Despite how good the story might be, gameplay always comes first. ALWAYS.
@MasterFlameBaitor
I'm quite sure some games do that already, but without having to ditch the challenge (See: RPGs).
My problem is than we p...
Baka gaijins don't know shit about glorious Nippon, after all.
He hates the "game" part of a game?
I've played games for the story, I'll admit it, but...seriously?
Those rehashes far surpass alot of new IPs out there.
In fact, they don't feel as rehashes leaving aside characters and settings thanks to the fact there are always new ideas to make each game feel fresh.
These "rehashes" are so great in fact, that destroy any competition to ever stand up to them.
Quite funny, really, that no other company has ever done what Nintendo has done with the pass of time, game-quality wise.
...
These are companies, after all- they can expand globally with no problem.
The thing here is than there's a line between trying to expand globally and trying to do so while you royally fuck up everything.
I mean- if you want western developers, try to have them develop new IPs- don't give an old IP to someone who might make an atrocity with said game (See: Ninja Theory with DmC...).
I believe these companies should just find a balance-...
But I get what you meant. Characters that feel alive; and believe me, I want that sort of characters as well.
And I'm sure alot of Japanese writters and developers are capable of doing so- Hell, look at Nier, for instance, as well as countless novels and mangas that are actually brilliant and give you incredibly believable characters to the point they seriously feel like real humans.
And sometimes they do pull them off- the problem is than most of the tim...
...Seriously, if you leave aside all the LOLDEEP crap the MGS games have, everything else is seriously like this.
I mean fuck, the only MGS games I like are the ones that focus on Big Boss, and event then if you truly analize the plot you'll realize that it's a big bad stupid clusterfuck that makes little to no sense at all.
Oblivion and Oblivion with guns? Both with broken RPG elements, a crappy engine and lackluster writting/story.
Mass Effect? Shootan disguised as an RPG.
Dragon Age? Yeah...no.
...And what else?
Manly men do manly things.
Suddenly, Big Boss kills a guy. Then he says "OH WAIT. I feel like doing THE SAME THIS GUY DID YAY!" and bangs a Costa Rican loli.
Then METAL GEAR?!
BROOOTHEEEERRRR
Then a gay ninja-swordman-something running around naked.
Then Snake gets old and suddenly NANOMACHINES
The end.
Couldn't have said it better.
The blurryness is thanks to the resolution.
The AA is because last gen we had SDTVs and didn't noticed jaggies as much as we do these days.
But yeah, overall, the 3DS seems like an improvement over the original- although I still wonder why Namco decided to port ABYSS...
Either way, it's not like we're getting it here in America.
But the 8$ Tag for characters you USE in BlazBlue was actually NOT that bad.
I mean, all these characters had different movesets, and hell, they took a while to learn as a whole.
Because I sure love an useless peripheral!
I mean, I don't NEED it, nor I WANT it.
Nope, I do not like SPORT REHASH NUMBER 12 or GENERIC FPS NUMBER 8. But I feel like Enslaved is just of those games you rent, beat, and then give back. It won't do anything worthwhile on your collection, nor you'll go back to it and beat it again, nor it'll last you a good time. It'll simply stay there doing nothing at all.
'Sides, bad gameplay is a no-go on my book when it doesn't evolves into anything creative nor fun.
Seems like basically it's too easy and shallow in gameplay.
Sorry, but then I'll probably ask someone to lend it to me or something. I'd rather play a game than look at it.
DMC fans wouldn't redesign him, they would just copy-paste the old Dante.
By the way, what the hell?
Who did this awful work? Some kid at Gaia or DevianART?
This is awful.
The first one had alot of flaws. Bugs everywhere, a crappy engine, broken RPG elements, you name it, it's there.
Wich was such a dissapointment since the first two were incredibly awesome- at least it seems this one has the original Black Isle team (or part of them) behind it, so there's a little hope...
Still, I fear this might share the same flaws the first one had. Sadly.
And how do you know that is true, without playing the game yourself?
Also, the lenght is thanks to the variation of levels at hand.
In fact, reviewers only bitched about some puzzles and how they gave the answers to you (And even then, it wasn't all clear). That is all.
On the other hand, Enslaved seems to be a nice (but short) game.
Both games look good, but if you ask me, Castlevania looks like a better title.
Yeah, seriously.
...People don't get sarcasm, do they?
