I'd give it a 5-6 for terrible story/story telling but serviceable gameplay, especially if you are treating it like primarily a stealth game. And thats a 5-6 as in middle of the scale for mediocre, cause its definitely a mediocre game.
1) If that happens its only because publishers take the wrong lesson from the backlash. If you are suggesting that fanbases should refrain from fair critiquing just because the suits might over compensate on the next go around then your suggestion is ignorant at best
2) the story of TLoU2 IS boring. Ellie's side of the game is decent enough in terms of gameplay but once Abby's story starts, the game turns into a massive slog. With how ineffective their attempt to h...
What this writer gets wrong about The Last of Us Part II:
Companies are not entitled to compensation for the work of their creatives. If they are not in business to satisfy their customers, they aren't going to have many, if any at all. They certainly aren't going to stay in business for very long. Who owns the narrative is irrelevant if said narrative isn't worth the paper its printed on.
@aconnellan
"but I don’t think using how many sales it has is a good indicator of story quality"
Or gameplay quality. EA's first crack at the SW Battlefront franchise sold like 14 million and that game couldn't be more mediocre to bad in all aspects minus graphics. This game was always going to sell cause: 1) the first game was really good so this game's hype came pre-attached, and 2) Normies are gonna normie. They don't keep up ...
Resident Evil is just a walking corpse. No longer is it the artist vision of a proven creator like Shinji Mikami. Its literally just a name slapped on random horror games for the sake of gaining market attention.
@SoulWarrior
I don't see many people at all complaining about Ellie being gay. Most of the complaints I see are about the low quality of the story, the treatment of the characters, the extreme level of nihilism, redundancy of the gameplay etc.

The far left is the new religious right.
I'm done with the RE franchise. I'm more into looking forward to what Invader Studios does next, assuming they've learned a few lessons from Daymare and capitalize on the experience gained from the development of that game.
You disliked RE1 remake?
RE4 would be a much better game if they changed the last levels of the game to be not action focused and more scary. Its the only part of the game I despise.
Agreed. They could have made it its own series like they did with DMC and no one would have disliked it and it wouldn't have damaged the series or split the fan base.
After RE3, everyone is going to wonder now. Capcom thought it would be fine to rush out a half ass game cause it would sell well, regardless, due to RE2R being good. But now they've sabotaged the future of the series' sales due to their recklessness and apathy towards RE3's quality.
Seems like all it takes is slapping a name on it. Capcom gave up on the idea of the series having an actual identity a long time ago.
Its funny. They said they wouldn't do the vanilla/super/ultra thing again cause people didn't like it then basically did it anyway. I think KI had the best expansion monetization model this gen. IMO its the best fighter this gen. Its the only reason I regret not owning an Xbone.
I'm ready for GT7.
Twisted Metal 2, bitch. They haven't announced it but you know its coming.
Turn based systems have survived because, like most things created due to limitation, they are the product of extreme creativity and became great in their own right. The idea that these things should be abandoned because the limitation no longer exists is ridiculous and ignores what these things actually bring to the table.
The reason more devs are making action RPGs is because they are simply chasing trends. Kitase openly stated that as the exact reason why FF7r was actio...
I think its time I buy another Switch.
Its definitely game strictly for fans of classic survival horror. If you go in understanding that its the first original project of a 10 person development team, the results are actually quite impressive. With more experience and a team expansion, they have the potential to rival current RE games. I'm genuinely looking forward to what they do next. Their heart is definitely in the right place for what they are trying to accomplish. There's just a certain level of polish that they need...
I enjoyed it. Its not perfect but it does a few things well. Those being horror, exploration, puzzles, and game length (took me 14 hours on first playthrough). Its main flaw is the shooting, but setting the aim sensitivity to 20% goes a long way in fixing it. After the first couple of hours I was over the flaws and into the experience.
According to Alanah Pierce, a 10/10 just means the reviewer is giving it their highest possible recommendation cause there is no such thing as a perfect game. To this, I say "fair enough". But if a 10/10 means the reviewer is giving it their highest recommendation then a 0/10 just means the reviewer is giving it their lowest possible recommendation (in other words, not recommending the game) and I don't want to hear any more about how a 0/10 is inappropriate or invalid as if a n...
