First off, try making a more fitting comparison. A good one would be to MKX. While the character models, themselves, are pretty damn good, the costumes in MK11 are dog shit compared to MKX. And that goes for almost every character that was in both games.

Thats overstating things a little. Most of the series history has either been straight up turn based or ATB style turn based. Ever since they booted Sakaguchi, they've been floundering like a live fish on dry land trying to come up with combat system that isn't turn based that they can use as consistently as Sakaguchi used traditional turn based and ATB combat.

@harmny Certain Hollywood actors very much get in the way of character recognition. Once they get big enough or are constantly playing the same type of roles, unless they are exceptionally good at playing characters other than themselves or just aren't in many movies, they tend to completely obfuscate the character they are playing. Luckily, Keanu Reeves isn't in very many films nowadays.
Film actors tend not to do so well in video games. Kiefer Sutherland didn't help sell the MGSV story. In fact he was a major source of disconnect in it.
