Perhaps the BR costs less per gig (50 vs. 30), but it's cheaper to produce one HD-DVD than one BR disc. And as is completely evident right now, 50 GBs are not required for Hi-Def movies.

A lot of people are missing the biggest part of this article. That fact that Wal-Mart subsidizes the prices of DVD sold at their stores. If they are backing HD-DVD, I'm sure they'll use the same marketing strategy. That means cheaper HD-DVD players as well as HD-DVD movies. And for those down playing Wal-Marts impact, you're deluding yourselves. They are the largest retailer of DVD's in the US (I'm not sure globally). This move would force studio's not currently supporting HD-DVD to reconside...

It's about the interactive features. Currently HD-DVD allows people to watch the movie while having actors/directors adding commentary in a window in the corner. While the PIP is the main focus, there are other interactive features available on HD-DVD not available on BR.

Maybe Sony can fix this, but HD-DVD already does picture in picture with HDi. So much for Blu-ray being superior. If word of this spreads to average consumers considering buying a PS3 because of the HD movie format, I think this would be an issue of concern for them. Either go with HD-DVD or wait until the Blu-Ray format is standardized. Either way not good for Sony.

That's what Sony fanboy can't get through their heads: that the original core 360 will still play all the games and all future games. They're so crazed with hate for MS that they can't come to terms with the fact that the 360 is about games first and other features second. You only have to look at their current and soon to be released library of games to know the truth. While 360 owners are playing great games, PS3 owners are folding@home and waiting and hoping for AAA games. I guess that's w...

Those pictures were posted yesterday. They released the 360 and PC tweaks today so the pictures are not comparing the PS3 to the 360 with the upgrade.

I think the main point is that the 360 and Wii are outselling the PS3 today. Comparing today's PS3 sales to the 360's sales same time last year is stupid. It's be better to gage demand. I think the demand for the 360 this time last year was higher than the demand for the PS3 today.

All Xbox fans should sign the petition so Capcom sees the hostility of the PS3 fans and throw more support to the 360.

This really shows how pathetic the SDF are. Someone should teach them the difference between "your" and "you're" if they're going to send a petition to a company. Simply pathetic, it's like their lives depended on Sony.

The percentage I'm quoting is not games working to listed games, but games working compared to total PS2 games. By your rational, if Sony released a list of only games working then BC would be 100%. Didn't see FFXII or GoW. but I'll take your word for it.

According to the list, only around 44% of PS2 titles work without any known problems. Worse still is the fact that the big games like GoW, GoW2 and FFXII aren't even on the list.

Yeah DJ, it's been a real bad day for 360 fans. First news of DMC4 coming to the 360 and now news of the PS3 getting limited background downloading. Can it get any worse?

6907d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I am surprised that it's scheduled to be released at the same time. I'm assuming the 360 version will be somewhat of a port of the PS3 version since it's probably been in development longer for the PS3. It'll be interesting how the two compare. If the trend of multi platforms being better on the 360 continues on this game, I think it'll be a big blow to Sony's claim that the PS3 is so much more powerful then the 360.

I'm assuming the game comes in at or under 500MBs since that's the upper limit for PS3 downloads right. That being the case, why would they even bother putting such a limited game on disk unless they thought maybe they could pass it off as a real game and charge more. Sony should just come clean for once and end what we all already know. It's a download.

But since it's being implemented through the 1.6 update, is it mandatory that PS3 owners participate? I think this should be done through an optional download so people can choose whether or not to participate. And I'm not sure how effective this will be since I don't know many people who keep their consoles on when they're not using it. But anything that helps and good PR for Sony.

I hear it's 3 games over the course of the 360's life. After all the hype and then the silence, I hope this game doesn't disappoint. 2-4 co-op sounds great. Any rumored release date?

WTF. Although I thought ownallconsoles's comment was ignorant, and I've read a lot of ignorant comments on this site, I would have to say not only is your comment the most ignorant of them all, that your racist attitude makes you the most ignorant person on this site. It's just a game.

Can you not comprehend (this means understand) what is being pointed out?
Less jaggies on the 360 (some are saying the 360 has full screen AA), reflection on the building on the 360, better heat effect and better frame rates for the 360. And this is just the demo. They'll be doing more polishing before the release. This could be because if the additin al time the 360 has had, but I think the point is that the 360 looks better.

Stop being such a fanboy and think. Maybe yo...

but this may be coming a little too late. If it came out last year I'd say they'd have a good chance, but it seems to me the studios have already made the investments into HD-DVD or BR. The fairly low cost to the consumers could still make it a player, but if HD-DVD comes out with a $300 player as rumored, then I think it'll be a hard sell.

@PS3Fan, your name says it all. You have no credibility. I don't know of anybody else, but I have never experienced any pauses when watchin...

I like me Xbox, but i think I'm getting shooter overload. I hope what Moore said about diversifying is true. The 360 needs more innovation because people criticizing the 360 as FPS console are sounding more believable.

"Even though the PS3’s RSX is inaccessible under Linux the smart little system will reach out across the network and leverage multiple IBM QS20 blades to render the complex model, in real-time"

So unless your PS3 is running Linux and connected to multiple IBM QS20 blades, this demo doesn't mean all that much to the average gamer. And as stated above by shotty, the Cell in the PS3 is a stripped down version.

Edit-they beat me to it.
