I don't think this is news. It's just an article about a "nobody" who over-reacts after he was shown information about a parent and child's reaction to an assumption that BMI is accurate for children.
BMI is NOT accurate for anyone younger than puberty or for those who are hugely overweight.
With Wii Fit, Nintendo is pretty much assuming that everyone using it is "average" or "normal" in health because, hey, that's the majority.
There is no way I will ever buy Rock Band. Harmonix and their new butt-buddies over at MTV can shove Rock Band up their ass. Any developer that sells out to the superficial f*gs at MTV deserves to fail.
If I ever purchase a rhythm game that incorporates a complete band package it will be Guitar Hero 4 or some future installment of it.
"directly copy"?
What do you mean? Rock Band's drums don't have "cymbols" or 6 elements.
Ok, I wouldn't say I'm a die-hard nerd and I'd rather go out of the house and drink beers with friends than sit inside and play a video game, lol.
Honestly, Rock Band is not that great. It's a great idea but I think Harmonix really screwed it up. It could've been way better.
Perfect timing to interfere with my studies. Ahh, the joy of procrastination by getting satisfaction through an action-RPG with a great story and lots of items/upgrades.
It's going to bring back memories of procrastination when Diablo II owned my private life. I can't wait to get into this game. It's going to rock.

Harmonix never really impressed me as a developer. Sure GH and GH II were hits but I never bought them because honestly, they aren't that great. The note activation had a low end cut off that totally screws with the flow and feel of the song, the menus were awful, and the track lists were short on talent. Guitar Hero III is by far better than the first two. Better menu design, track lists, and the note activation allowed for a more fluid feel and thus allowed for a more realistic meshing of f...
Awesome.
I can see that you have no clear definition of art. If you have no clear definition (other than "skill", which is not the case for the context of video games) than your argument fails. Keep pushing the vague and unrefined haze of a definition in your head and watch yourself never come to a clear understanding of what art really is. I need not say more.
No, it's not called ignorance. It's called knowing the difference between wishful thinking (in your case) and knowing the facts (in my case). Nice arguing with you although it was a waste since you brought nothing new or revelational to the table.
"blast off at people" ??
Who'd I "blast off" at? My discussion is calm. I don't see any exclamation marks. I didn't resort to name calling. However, I continue to fail to see your ignorant point of view.
"Doesn't an argument gain more merit when most people agree with it?"
Yea, I'm sorry, of course. If everyone is a lemming then of course everyone is right. WTF? Do you have any sort of education? If you think the answe...
Wow. You're truly a moron. The definition of 'art' in your #7 and #9 is not the definition developers are talking about, idiot. Art in your definition is a skill.
Art is creative. 'Creative' implies creation. Violence is destructive. Therefore violence is not an art.
As for games being art, that's a load of bullsh*t. Games are not art, they're games. Games may contain artistic elements, yes. But a game itself is not art. It is an interactive medium.
"...we shouldn't have to be punished for other peoples mental instabilities..."
Grow up. Yea, you're right but it's a waste for making such an argument. Why? Because that argument is passive, insensitive to the victims of violent crimes, and a total scapegoat for actually having a mature conversation about the issue.
The rest of your comment is crap that's been repeatedly spit out like a hot off the press bullsh*t everyone keeps bringing up. Get an argu...
Nothing is funny about pedophilia you sick f*ck. Have some compassion and think before you type next time.
This is a short but sweet read. The author, "cc", gives a subtle and well versed explanation of one of the reasons GTA is such a fun and entertaining game because of it's "sandbox" nature. The "fun" manifests itself not only the freedom to explore but in the artisitc detail and crazy interactions that arise just by going off on a tangent within the game. What I thought was great about this read was that it didn't include the famous non-mission, violence saturated...
However insignificant we think Counter-Strike was in influencing William Cho to commit those acts of violence doesn't matter. The fact is that it happened. Arguing about whether or not the game caused Cho to act that way is rediculous. The fact is that playing violent videogames, ones in which the user is able to perform virtual violent acts, does have an affect on the psychology of the individual. Unfortunately, it has a stronger affect on some people and it's incredibly difficult to know wh...
If you're 12 years old like Chubear and ROTFLMFAO you'll probably not understand anything in these videos or benefit in anyway from watching them. In fact, your time would be better spent playing your copy of GTA IV even though you're a minor.
But if you have some intelligence, like a good high school education or know a few things about social responsibility and the need to care for our children then you may benefit from watching these videos.
Maybe he hasn't had anyone kick his ass in a long time. Perhaps that's what he needs to realize the pain people suffer because of violence (real life violence that is).
But has it outsold all Nintendo consoles (excluding the Wii) combined? That would really be the measure of success for Nintendo.
