I don't think it makes sense to blame just CoD. Batman, BF3, Skyrim, Uncharted 3 and AC: Revelations were all released extremely close to CoD and were hugely successful.
But that says it all really. It was a ridiculously crowded holiday season.
Yeah that one's just a lie. You have to collect 1001 light seeds to get the platinum.
Still a really easy one to get though.
I don't think it implies that U3 was bad, just that it couldn't live up to the astronomical expectations. Which I think is fair.
Excited about ME3, and luckily my expectations are slightly more grounded...
Unfortunately I agree. Uncharted 3's a really good game with some incredible moments (cruise ship anyone?), but it's not a patch on Uncharted 2.
Story, character and pacing made Uncharted 2 one of my favourite games ever but U3 was disjointed as hell by comparison. Also the way they screwed up the aiming...
I personally bought Rayman Origins for Vita. It's just a game that I feel suits the platform better than a home console (and looks incredible)
It'll just depend on the game. But remote play isn't as all encompassing as some would like, and it's limited to when you have a constant wi-fi connection.
If you don't care about getting them then just ignore the numbers on your profile.
They exist for people who enjoy collecting them and feel they add value to a game.
You must work for THQ...
I'd say BF3's campaign was bad. Really, really bad.
I'd say a case could be made for either. As long as we all agree that Resistance 2 was a tragic, series ruining mistake.
I'd agree with that. The original is one of my favourite games of all time and has BY FAR the strongest narrative of the three.
Kratos had a real arc in it, and everything happened for a reason. Later games, while still great, have lost the nigh-on perfect design due to striving for bigger moments and more blood.
Yeah it's kinda funny starting the list with two games that huge 360 owners don't even want as exclusives themselves...
That being said Alan Wake was a fantastic game.
I didn't care much about the pre reveal screens and stuff. But must say I was sold the minute I saw the Naughty Dog logo.
More importantly, however, Alan Wake looks great too! Christ people just enjoy both.
Hell yes friend. Alan Wake's by far my favourite XBox franchise after just one entry.
So happy they get to continue it despite the lower than deserved sales.
I think he got disagrees because Naughty Dog released a game ONE MONTH AGO.
There's no way they're making another game that's ready to be announced.
I agree with him. The Uncharted franchise is my favourite of the generation, but I want it to take a long break now.
ND can focus on something totally new and exciting then take us back to these character next gen and blow us away.
It's inevitable that if they stick with the 2 year cycle the law of diminishing returns will kick in.
@kaveti6616
What the hell are you talking about? I've played all of those except for Revelations and most of them run fine. Or at least they run just about up to par with the 360 versions. Just Cause 2 also runs fine, so do the inFamous games etc.
Christ...
(New Vegas runs like absolute crap though I grant you)
Totally! It's in my top 5 of the year, which is damn impressive given I didn't like the original very much.
@kaveti6616
I understand your point to a degree, Skyrim is incredibly ambitious and pretty much impossible to test fully.
But calling Resistance cheap and derivative just because it uses a few tropes is hugely dismissive. By those standards I could call Skyrim the same. A fantasy land infested with trolls and elves and goblins and dragons. But I wouldn't, because it doesn't matter if the game handles it well.
On the topic of GOTY though... I c...
It's been an amazing year, I'd list my top 5 as:
Dead Space 2
Portal 2
Batman Arkham City
Uncharted 3
Skyrim
Can't say I'd be able to put them in quality order though.
That's not a new fascination. Batman was a dark, troubled character before Adam West and sure as hell has been since.
Anyway just play the games. They're great. And Batman's freaking awesome.
