Unexpected, but sounds cool. I'm still rocking my DS Lite, so maybe this is the upgrade I'll jump on. Still though, I'm skeptical. I mean this is Nintendo we're talking about.
Also, I love this comment from James Mielke:
"Some sluething has revealed the 3DS's first year line-up: Super Mario 3D. Zelda 3D. Starfox 3D. Kirby 3DDD. Metroid 3D. Animal Crossing 3D."
Has anyone played this?
I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and I'm willing to give it a shot. If anyone has played this let me know how it is.
Obviously Sony reads articles on the internet and I'm sure get e-mail's talking about what people want. This brings them all together in one place, makes it easier for Sony to read, and could eventually lead to the features (that do get chosen) to come out sooner based on demand.
Nice job Sony
As a long time, die hard SOCOM fan, I'm still leaning towards my Dualshock for SOCOM 4. However, I'll give the Move a chance. I doubt Sony/Zipper would implement motion control in if they didn't think they could pull it off. Especially with a game as hardcore as SOCOM is.
That Epic would say they have nothing coming out in 2010 yet show off their updated engine. Obviously it's being used for something.
We all know Gears 3 is coming, I guess we'll just have to wait until E3 to figure out when. Microsoft definitely has a strong lineup for this year, hopefully they don't rush this to try and match any of Sony's major first party games for a fall release.
I'm cool with everyone having an opinion. Obviously Heavy Rain is not everyone's cup of tea. However I'll disagree with HR not bringing anything new to the table.
The blogger, and for the most part, all the major complaints I've read talk about the gameplay. Yes, QTE can be annoying, but Heavy Rain wasn't good because of this, it was good because of the (multiple) choices they allowed you to make. Whether they be story related or something as simple as the camera angle. This all ...
I was never a hater of MW2 when it launched. Yes I didn't care for Activision & I thought the game was rushed w/o being properly beta tested, but I loved COD4 like most did and at least 20 of my friends bought it so I picked it up. Even though I haven't played it in 2 months, it was MW2 and Uncharted 2 non stop in my PS3 for the last few months of 2009.
However, there's no way in hell I'm paying $15 for 5 maps, 2 of which are old. This, along with what's happened between IW/A...
About what I expected, yet as a long time SOCOM fan I'm still not sold at all at using the "move" instead of the Dualshock. I'll be reading plenty of the hands on previews first.
As for the name, it doesn't sound that bad. I like that it's more of an official name. It'll give random consumers an idea of what it does from just it's name unlike "Arc".
G4 was supposed to be covering Sonys event tonight? When I checked my guide all I saw was X Play, Attack of the Show & then Cops...I couldve sworn I saw a commercial for it though
EDIT: @xiphos - Yeah, I had just looked at that online when you posted. Thanks for the heads up though
Why no PlayStation 3 games have taken advantage of incorporating mods into games like UT3 did. I played the hell out of it just because of them and the UT3 community came out with some real cool stuff.
And there are ton's of games, most notably GTA/Fallout 3, that I'm sure I'd play a lot more had the option be there. I mean, it adds a ton of replay ability and makes even the mediocre games better (not referring to GTA or Fallout)
I don't really get the technical aspe...
I think this years GDC will be more centered around hardware & showing off games we all knew about rather than new releases. However that's not to say I don't think anything will be announced. My wishlist:
1) "Arc" unveiling - Want a demonstration, details, which publishers are on board, maybe some teases on what they're working on and show support for past games (LBP, RE5, etc)
2) 3D Support - What we can expect and when. Maybe an early title list
This is a very short CG trailer that shows almost nothing. So don't feel too left down. I guarantee Zipper will drop way more info leading up to and/or at GDC/E3. The fact that they haven't even commented on the online portion of the game makes it seem like they have big announcements in store.
The thing I might be most interested is what they did with their engine. The trailer looks CG, yet the screens look way different than MAG. So I wonder if the visuals were upgraded that mu...

EDIT: Ok, sorry, I let the excitement get to me. It's just that I spent almost all of my high school years playing SOCOM. That's it. By far my favorite game of all time. And after Confrontation let us all down (I still played the hell out of it, but lets face it the game was bad)the SOCOM community wanted a Zipper backed game for a LONG TIME. And now we got it, it's gonna be amazing.
And yes, I know we (the SOCOM communi...
Every single year I play great games, we're talking really good games and I think to myself "wow, this is the best it can get", and you find a way to up it every year.
Honestly, I'm not that big of a fanboy, do support Sony, but being a launch owner I've been through thick and thin but it seems like Sony always pulls through with these major announcements. They happen once maybe twice a year, every year.
I really do think Sony's going to do this. If your go...
It's still my favorite console of all time. I'll never forget the day I bought my network adapter. Changed my gaming lifestyle forever.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Games like Killzone 3 and Resistance 3 will be held off for more of the major events. Not that this announcement can't or wont be big, just that it'll be something new (Sly, Syphon Filter, etc)
However, I think Resistance 3 or whatever Insomniacs working on will be shown at GDC. If I remember correctly R2 was showcased there, so hopefully we see it. Otherwise I suppose it is only 3 months till E3...
Yes, it sucked not being able to play your PS3 for a day (I say your, because for some reason my 80GB fat still worked), and I get that not being able to play your single player games really would blow, that I might be upset about, but I don't get all these comparisons to the RROD or this huge meltdown. Hell, I even saw it on MSNBC and CNN.
I just don't get how some people make this out to be this huge, end of the world, every PlayStation 3 is broken headlines. Ridiculous really...
But Oblivion released on the PS3 (after like 5 delays) during one of those early dry spells and after picking up I put in some serious hours with it. Probably the most out of any PS3 game yet. More than Fallout 3, which were both very similar games aside from setting.
That said, I want ES5 real bad, although I remember reading they might be working on an ES mmorpg or something of the sorts. Ill take that too.
I have the second, normal, 80GB (not the original Motorstorm one) and it's working fine. Also playing Heavy Rain, which I read is one of the offline games that won't work. So I don't know whats up. Also, I live in Wisconsin, if that helps anyone with the regional thing, though I know of people who live close who aren't working either...
I really see no reason for Sony to spend money (I assume) when their lineup for 2010 is this strong. Exclusively Sony still has GT5, FFXIV, The Last Guardian, Agent, Mod Nation Racers, DC Universe, The Agency and SOCOM 4 (obviously all pending release dates)
That's not including rumored titles like Killzone 3, Resistance 3, "Starhawk", Twisted Metal let alone PlayStation Move and incorporate 3D gaming. That's A LOT of stuff to show off.
However, if, and thi...
