normally you'd have to pay $10 to play online portions with the online pass system on PS3 & Vita. Now since you need PS+ to play multiplayer period, it negates it. I see what you did there Sony. That is why 1st or 3rd party developers won't have Online Pass. Since the online portion is behind a payment wall, it isn't needed. I buy new anyway so I really don't care.
