that it's 6GB GDDR5 for games and 2GB GDDR5 OS. which would make it pretty damn good. Even todays smartphones are using 2GB of DDR3 and they have a ton of functionality and multitasking. There has been atleast 3 modders (confirmed insiders) backing up this claim on neogaf. Digital Foundry need to adjust their article again.

when some Ps3 gamers wanted party chat? It wasn't available because they already allocated the memory to game development. That why they simply said "Ps3 didn't have enough memory." This is just another example of Sony learning from their mistakes. Seeing as how most games right now aren't using anywhere near 7GB of GDDR5, they decided to allocate a small portion just in-case they may need it in the future.

Sony R&D took ps3 OS footprint from being 150...

Since when was this considered fact and not rumored? The rumor itself is inconsistent. Also the title of the article say 5.5gb not 4.5gb. It's 4.5gb with 1gb of "flexible memory". I also find this false since PS4 is using a version of Linux which requires no where near 2.5gb of RAM. Cell phones are have multitasking and snappy interfaces using only 2gb of DDR3.

You know Sony's been lending out PS4 devkits for absolutely free right? They're not even charging the indie community that first year. Even you have to admit that now Microsoft is playing catch up. Developers are also curious as to how self publishing actually works with them.

I guess even Microsoft like the direction Sony is taking with the Indie community. But You know Microsoft's method going to have to seriously try to combat hacking and piracy.

Edit: "After the purchase of a $150 Xbox One development kit, automatically set to renew annually."

Let's hope everyone will be able to get their game up and running within the first 2-3 years.

How does a fighter, which doesn't rely on system specs at all, feel next gen? I would suppose you're only talking about the graphics in this regards. Because when it comes to fighters the only thing that matters is frames.
Ryse, while being a beautiful, again didn't show anything gameplay-wise that says next gen. In fact, it looked quite the opposite. From what i've seen, it's looks very scripted and linear. Next gen as far as other titles are concerned, are more d...

Unbiased?

", but over the course of the convention, more and more attendees were flocking over to the Microsoft booth to get their hands on the games that feel like the Next Generation."

He only comments on Killer Instinct and Ryse. I do admit Ryse was by far, Microsoft's best looking game @ E3. But it looks like an on-rail QTE. I recall Heavy Rain getting alot of flak from Xbox owners for this. But now that it's on their system, everything&...

some pretty nice features, but none were compelling enough to justify the price. The whole "skin you face on an avatar" has been done before. But I'll give Microsoft credit for attempting to justify Kinect's necessity. Key words they mentioned is developers "can" take advantage of these.

because of some of these decisions, Microsoft has undergone a restructuring. People are saying that their stock is overpriced also. Windows 8 is a failure consumer-wise, but Microsoft will gain money from the business end. Windows surface was a complete bomb. They Lumnia lineup is pretty ok. But Xbox One fiasco, has cause major concern for alot of investors. Gaikai is already where Microsoft is trying to get.

This article is stupid. This has been one of the longest gaming generations so far. But this also a dramatic increase in the console market given that every system has sold at least 70 million or more units. With the announcement of next gen console, of course hardware/software sales are expected to take a dive. This is marking the end of a generation.

@Kanzes

It's marketing BS. They really need to start putting their resources into to getting peak performance out of the esRAM. This is what they were banking on. Unfortunately, this require for developers to come up with techniques to get the most out of it. If they can get this than, honestly Microsoft, could put up a fight graphically.

"trying to get developers to talk badly of the Xbox One publically."

Because they all know behind closed doors, that's it's horrible.

much was expected. It's a great piece of hardware at a remarkable adoption price. Xbox One has some games but that's something they needed regardless of what Playstation was doing. Sony has a remarkable eye for Game Of the Years titles and new IPs. I'm a future ps4 owner. Sold my Xbox360 and haven't looked back since.

Also GTA5 gameplay confirmed to running on PS3.

PC will always be faster than consoles because they usually release a new version of graphics cards annually. PC is all about raw power. PC brute forces most games running with very little need for optimization. But PC gamers thinking that they can build a budget PC matching the performance of consoles are insane. A PC, and I repeat, cannot beat consoles in price/performance. Anything you're throwing out there is only theoretical and cannot be proven.

@Logicwins,

Sorry bro, your logic is flawed. I remember people calling Ps3 a flop 2006-2007 even though it sold millions. This was only because it didn't sell as much as Xbox360. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, all of a sudden, any console will be successful despite it's adoption rate.A game's success is determined units sold and how large the existing install base is. Console success is determined solely by it's adoption rate. (PSVita, Wii U)

4726d ago 13 agree11 disagreeView comment

@Logicwins,

Wii U is at about 2-4 million, does that make is successful? No, it doesn't. That fact that you brought up The Last of Us, make little to no sense. The Last of Us was a brand new ip being launched at the end of a console generation. How many other newly launched IPs can boast those number this late in the game?

OT: Not even Microsoft believes this. If that had been the case, they would have never backed tracked on their DRM policies. Yes they ...

for really? I thought it was for the Living room. Then I thought it was for the gamers. Now it's for small businesses to video chat? Microsoft is just throwing everything at the wall and hope something sticks. 1 billion in games my butt. They could have invested that in some first party studios or indies. But they think gamers only want shooters and Minecraft.

4727d ago 10 agree7 disagreeView comment

I mean they're just trying move units. Gamers have already spoken and so Microsoft is directing their attention to other people not so well informed.
