Imagine a PS4 running a game at 120 frames per second, now imagine all of the other demands of VR, how would that game look? Technically the PSVR can output up to 120Hz but if the developer wants it to look better than a PS3 game then they will instead convert native 60Hz (still very demanding) to 90Hz or 120Hz, don't expect native 120Hz ever unless the game is really basic looking. Don't even expect 60Hz converted to 120Hz very often, it's just too demanding.

I'll reply to myself as N4G's moronic messaging system doesn't let me reply to others! Let's make some comparisons.
Vive and Oculus 's refresh rate is a native 90Hz, whilst the PSVR can technically reach 120Hz, they will mostly be converting a 60Hz signal to 90Hz, they recently gave that as an option, unless the game looks very basic then expect all developers to take that option. Native 90HZ looks a lot better than 60Hz converted to 90 or even 120Hz, that...
It's all about the games, clearly you have forgotten that.
He wasn't, he was responsible for the massively inferior snes version.
Games have a much longer life on PC than they do on console, it will still be selling 50 years from now on PC.
It also means it will massively under-powered compared to it's PC counterparts, that proposed 60% advantage over similarly specced PC's still leaves it far far off the minimum specs needed for Oculus et al.
I think the best you can expect is either simple graphics for open games or limited gameplay (on rails etc) when using nice graphics. Don't expect Elite Dangerous to ever work on PSVR for example.
"the freedom of choices should always be present in any industry". Exactly, I would like the choice to play Nintendo games on my PC legally.
The sooner Nintendo go software only and start releasing their entire back catalogue and future software on PC, X1, PS4 and smart devices the better.
Also the size you need is tiny actually, as demonstrated by a Vive developer.

Well the Oculus store will work on other devices, that's been confirmed already. If Oculus are total dicks they will find a way of making certain games not work on the Vive, hopefully it doesn't come to that, especially as everything the Oculus can do the Vive can do and more.
More so we may see some Vive games not work on the Oculus headset, Valve already announced Steam VR will work on other headsets, but there are certain things a Vive can do than no other headset...
The Vive specs mean I would only have to get a new gfx card, whilst the Rift requires I get a new gfx card, a new cpu and 3 usb3 slots. Considering the Vive has more advanced tech and the motion controllers are bundled, I think I'm getting one of them now. I still haven't completely made up my mind though.
The Oculus Rift is $599 not $699.
Trust me, it doesn't get any better and it's no Myst. I'd just wait for Obduction instead.
Yeah these groups are awfully condescending I've noticed, they have a very low opinion of women. Most women just aren't interested in being a video game developer and that's OK, the industry has done just fine without them.
Most veterinarian's are women, I don't see any contrived attempt to get more men into that field, mainly because that would be stupid.
In relatively free and civilised countries like those of the west, people tend to c...
I've always found buying the parts separately has been more expensive than bundles tbh. PCSpecialist has been that way for me anyway. Mind you they build the PC with the parts that you choose, so maybe it's more akin to building it yourself.
Saying that I only need a couple of new parts to be Oculus ready so I'll most likely do it myself anyway.
I've heard Oculus are exaggerating their recommended specs and that an fx8350 is fine as long as you have ...
It is.
That is a pitiful amount considering their revenue.
No you just want them and there's nothing wrong with that!
Hopefully puzzle adventure games like Myst. The creators of the Myst series are working on a game that is VR compatible called Obduction, here's a vid. To me this genre was made for VR and VR was made for this genre!

I imagine that PC VR will have this by default, it's one advantage of running on far more powerful hardware. I know they already show the warped image on a monitor but it would be nice if they fix that with software for onlookers. There is so much potential for asymmetrical coop or mp with VR and a second screen.
