Yeah, I've seen a couple of these in person too. I don't get it, beyond the fact that they're cool and therefore Kojima was like "Let's put one in here."

Seriously. I'm just like... why... I mean, controller support, sure, but who even does that in 2016?

The Waypoint podcast on this is actually clearer than the "we emailed each other about FFXV" article referenced here on how they felt about Cindy - mainly, Cindy as a character can dress however the heck she wants, but it's the editing and direction that frames her as out-of-context fanservice instead of a substantial part of the world. For those of us who have watched a lot of freakin' anime, it's an overused thing that draws you out of the game's universe. There&#...

I agree. I've been cross-checking this and you're looking at the sole source of this rumor. Anyone else reporting on it is citing this Japanese blog. We should wait for more official outlets to say something.

Development-wise, this is really unlikely. BotW is near the end of the production phase by now, and Nintendo knows its architecture inside and out - why would they suddenly give up on the WiiU version, considering it's nearly complete?

My...

Tekken 7 looks really good in action, though - check out a tournament on Twitch using source quality, it's nice. Not as aesthetically awesome as Revelator, one of my favorites, but a good-looking Tekken. The Rage Arts are... eh, questionable, it makes watching tournaments a little more interesting given there's a quick way to turn the tables. That means it isn't all fundamentals, but it's still neat.

I'm hoping beyond hope that the reason why it's t...

Definitely. If you haven't bought Doom yet, now's the time, whether it's on PSN or at a physical store. (Well, now or the day after Christmas.)

The target audience for a Fallon show isn't going to care about in-depth looks at what the new LoZ can do - it's about "There's a new Zelda, it's open-world, oh and it's on this new system." Three things, everything else is icing on the cake. It's the difference between selling only to a dedicated gaming crowd and selling a console successfully. It's a pitch, and the pitch wasn't bad.

I guess in a way I was in the right place at the right time to love VI. It's more about what it did differently then, as opposed to what it would actually be now, which... yeah, that makes sense.

I think, on the contrary, I was in the wrong place at the wrong time to play 9. I wanted them to go further with the whole cyberpunk thing that was sorta happening in 8, but alas. And by the time they got really futuristic, it was XIII, and that thing had other issues.

VII Cid is Best Cid, but I'd like to throw my hat in for the Tactics Advance Cid, who is both an out-of-luck dad to the main character and the master of all judges in the game.

9 over 6. Wow... kinda bold! I think there's some real inconsistency in 9 that keeps it from being great (like how the CG cutscenes look absolutely nothing like their counterparts, particularly Kuja, something went wrong there). Then again, the card game in 9 was amazing on its own.

God, FFXII.
"Final Fantasy XII plays more like a Western RPG, like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic."
Well, yeah, and like KOTOR 2 it lacked a proper endga...

Oh, this looks NEAT. Taking some of the best bits of Dyad and Rez and Thumper and smooshing them together in an accessible-enough shooter - and the really bright environment and 60fps locks it in for me!

TLG is a good point for sure, but FFXV? Digital Foundry found that the frame timing (not the framerate) on every version of the game, from 4K to base PS4, was off - and that it might be a fixable glitch on Square's side, not a PS4 issue. Framerate itself didn't seem to be the issue. Granted, there's supposedly a 60fps Pro version on the way, but not seeing that at launch raises some eyebrows.

TLG was made with what seems to be sheer disregard for whatever hardwa...

I think this writer is spot on given the proposed scenario. If they fail here, with what is honestly the most conservative design they've put out in a long time (I mean, it's exactly what most of us expected and wanted), they really should take one long look at the premium hardware side of their company and just jettison the thing into space. They're currently proving with Super Mario Run that they can function just fine on other platforms - that thing looks great - and with the h...

I mean, of course they will recognize it as a first step. It certainly didn't have the games library of an eighth or ninth step, but it did something very unique. The library's Dreamcast-esque in that there isn't much there, but what's there is pretty great and irreplaceable.

Yeah, David's right when it comes to the non-FGC community with its release, and I think his idea of a re-release (but not for those who already bought the game, or having owners pay for the expansion material only and not the core changes) is valid. Especially something around the same idea of Destiny: The Taken King, where all the stuff that the Destiny team learned got folded into both an expansion and an overhaul, or similarly, FFXIV: A Realm Reborn.

I mean, after SFV it's really easy to suspect Capcom would do that - *starting* it too late, not releasing it too soon - we have no idea when they started work on this thing, we just have a release date. My guess is that Capcom did not have an entire MvC team that started on this after 3, it was probably all hands on deck for SFV, so "five years" is not a given.

All that said, this had better not be another rolling release the way SFV was - the large roster wa...

Awesome! The game deserves this level of sales, it's extremely enjoyable to play! Especially just for exploration/quests, etc. - honestly, by this point I could hardly care at all about the story.
