Phones are essentially a neccessity whereas portable game machines are a luxury..
It just so happens that smart phone are a great platform for cheap bite sized games that the average joe loves to play..
They do not require large chunks of time, they have a social networking advantage, and more people own smartphones than own consoles..
So these numbers are grossly misconstrued. When will the doom and gloom articles cease??

Regardless of how imperfect sony UI's are they do something that not alot of companies can claim.. THey actually listen to the userbase and make efforts to satiate them.. Just look at how far the PSN has come all thanx to user feedback...

Im sorry but the vita is all about gaming.. I am buying one, not because of the multimedia features but the gaming experiences that it offers.. All of the other fluff is nice and makes the investment even better... If you are not purchasing one based solely on the struggling multimedia features then you truly arent interested in the vita...
I'm actually going a different route.. Since I am getting the first edition bundle i get a 4 gb card with that and I'm getting the vita starter kit which also comes with a 4gb card..
One card will be for my gaming needs and the other will be for my video and music needs..
Plus can't you store content on the ps3 as well?? I may just keep all of my extra stuff on my ps3 hardrive.. Simple:)

Whatever you have to tell yourself to justify your obvious bias.. I'm a HUGE sony fan but there were games on the 360 that I was super jealous for.. Mass effect 2 and bioshock being the two main examples.. Why cant you stop operating under the fanboy mantle and appreciate the quality that the ps3 delivers?
Yay me too. I cant wait to get my shiny first edition bundle a week early with that memory card, case, little deviants, and screen protector.. Plus I'm getting the starter kit which also comes with a memory card, screen protector, case, and those sick sony headphones.. As far as games I am getting Uncharted, escape plan, and maybe wipeout or hot shots.. I wish I could afford all of em!!!
They already confirmed that it is a pay as you go service, no contracts, no commitments required...
I have no issues with at@t or 3g, they are my current carrier and I'm looking for a tack on service for my bill.. By the way I preordered the first edition bundle with 3g so this whole issue is moot for me...
Here's hoping that the ps4's UI is heavily influenced by the vita...
I'm sorry but that first edition bundle is much better if you ask me.. Not only do I get it a week early which is a big plus, it comes with little deviants(I was going to get it anyway,) a 4 gig memory card, hard case, and screen protector.. If you add up all of the bonuses that you get its way more then $50 so I'm coming out ahead...
been a plus subscriber since launch and happily so.. I was really really timid about paying for plus but the +3 month bonus for signing up early got me.. I've downloaded sooo much free stuff since I subscribed plus all of the betas I've been a part of has been well worth the price of entry... Can't wait to see what kind of amazing content is on offer this year..
47% is not a "vast majority" thats less then half.. People buy these cheap pickup and play games and they find that the love them and so they kind of become addicted Like us core gamers with our console games and they will FIND time to play them.. This in no way signifies the decline of portable gaming on dedicated devices... It's just sensationalist journalism wanting you to believe it...
