I'm a PS4 owner but even I think it's too early to tell. All xone needs is a Kinect-less SKU at $350 or maybe even $380 and it would be a good race.
But also as a PS4 owner I hope Sony develops a significant lead so MS bully policies like perfect game parity doesn't force devs to hold PS4 versions back.
I think it would be a very good thing for MS to be humbled this gen, they were becoming the industry Gestapo.
Know how I know someone is always watching/listenting, GOOGLE NOW.
That thing is scary, if I talk on the phone about a seeing a movie or going out to eat, Google Now has some suggestion on it.
Upgradable Hard Drive, never buying one until the HD can be upgraded with standard HDs.
Ps3 wasn't profitable because sony put billions into cell and even purchased a plant to manufacture it.
Also, MS would have made a lot on 360 if it didn't have to spend 3 billion on RROD.
PS1 and PS2 made a lot of money, far more than N64 or Gamecube. Nintendo wouldn't make any less on it's exclusives by having third party support.
@BattleN - but hardware power/configuration does have a big impact on whether third parties m...
Nintendo should have just made a console in the same league as PS4/xone and finally warmed up to 3rd party publishers by making it have easy to develop for hardware and a strong online infrastructure.
If Nintendo's console had the power of xone/ps4, all the third party titles, proper online and controller, it would have been unstoppable.
I don't know why Nintendo never tries to appeal to 3rd parties, there's so much money to be made from licensing...
Third parties were tired of high risk, expensive cartridges, which yielded smaller per game profits.
PS1 had CD which had more storage which also allowed for the developer to better implement the games vision. Mainly it was about money though. Every unsold cartridge was a lot more waisted money than an unsold CD. Publishers and developers wanted Playstation to win so they could make more money while taking less risk.
Note as well, Nintendo stubborn refusal...
Very true, every time Molyneaux makes a game he's like, "I'm making the greatest game imaginable". Then three years later, "I feel like my last game was a major disappointment and failed on so many levels, but my new game is literally the greatest game imaginable".
Rinse repeat.
It wouldn't, Home was boring, it would still be boring on PS4.
How about a summary video.
oh my god yes, I agree so much with this comment.
I think it would be a great idea.
Totally agree, I still feel so far PS4 has the better exclusives (yes, I'd much rather play Outlast and Resogun than Ryse, Forza, or DR3 - although Forza is probably good, just don't like racing games) but yeah, gameplay is necessary for a game to be enjoyable - graphics/sound can turn a good game an incredible experience and add greatly to immersion bringing an 8 game into a 10.
In other words an 8 in gameplay where the graphics are decent and runs well is probably ...
People comparing Bluray to Kinect may as well compare apples to dorito's.
Bluray was a natural and NECESSARY transition into a higher storage format to keep up with rapidly increasing memory demands. If it wasn't bluray it would have been something else, either way, something needed to exist that could hold more than DVD. It also needed to be universally adopted.
Lo and behold, the new format is bluray, maybe if HDDVD was in every 360 it would have ...
If done right it could be a "Samus" moment.
Like, if the character was already well established but mysterious. A perfect example would be to reveal that Masterchief is gay. I doubt the Halo series would suffer for it.
Great, I care a lot more about how it plays. They better not Killzone it with the AI.
My God...the PS4 sales are crazy.
Well they had 1 billion dollars for things like this, spent $400 000 000 securing exclusive NFL content (that really, on the US cares about) and probably another couple hundred million for Titanfall. A lot on is being spent on Halo probably and with the few other exclusives they're working on, they probably don't have much left now.
And over 90% of gamers don't buy the most popular or, according to reviews and gamers, best games in a year.
Most gamers have unique and disparate tastes but play the yearly iteration of the same game all gen. I suspect for many, that game isn't out yet. Example, a lot of my friends play NHL online all year, they'll buy PS4 when it releases.
Also, the majority of Wii gamers have moved on to their free phone and tablet games as predicted, and 30 ...
Multiplatform games tend to be the best games in a gen IMO. Provided the multiplats are equal, exclusives are good for deciding what platform to purchase but mutliplats offer the most great experiences.
And before people yell PC, a lot of multiplats are console exclusive like Red Dead or long-timed exclusive like GTA5 so you'd need console as well anyways.
This was posted about two days ago, I commented on it but now my when I try and check my comment it leads to the pending stories page.
Very strange.
