but perhaps the gameplay will be good. One should never judge a book by it's cover.

The iphone is not the kind of device your grandma will buy for you at Walmart/Target for christmas, hannukah, birthday, etc...

A better question is if the iphone provide a huge market for game developers? Obviously, the answer is yes. It already does.

You are correct. Even though Gears is considered the best looking game on the 360, GTA4 is, technically speaking, doing a hell of a lot more. Both

As for the up close texture thing, because Gears does not have particularly good up close textures. However, because it's never in first person view you never get close enough to the textures to see how bad they are.

Your preference for the graphics of Gears over those of Killzone 2 are perfectly valid in the same vein that I prefer the graphics of Shadow of the Colossus and Okami over just about any other game I've seen. Just keep in mind that your preference is purely based on art-style rather than technical merit.

In terms of technical merit there is no other game in the same class as Killzone 2.

Microsoft has been misleading consumers by roping them in with the $199 price tag without being explicit about stating that nearly every advertised function requires expensive add-ons and services.

The Wii and the PS3, on the other hand, have no such problem. Each of those machines can perform exactly as advertised and have absolutely zero hidden costs.

"more of the same" is a bad reason to give a bad review. Doing so contradicts previous reviews such as Halo3, Gears 2, and COD5 which are all utterly unoriginal and strong candidates for the "most more-of-the-same game award" but still received high scores.

Fear 2 is probably a perfectly decent game. 5/10 is too low score a for a decent game. Similarly, 7/10 by edge for a truly standout game like killzone 2 is also terribly off-base. Such ridiculous &quo...

I can't believe this game is really that bad. In fact, Eurogamer says that anyone who hasn't played FPS games constantly for many years will probably like it alot. Just like Edge's Killzone 2 review, this review of Fear 2 is a disservice to gamers.

It has the full backing of movie studios and hardware companies. DVD won't disappear overnight. Just like VHS, it will hang around for a very long time. However, once Blu-Ray has a large enough installed base the movie studios will stop publishing new releases in DVD.

It will probably be atleast three or four more years before that happens. As for VOD, the content and infrastructure won't be there for a very long time.

Unless you can provide a concrete example of how HipHopGamer is somehow doing more to "ruin" gaming journalism than any of the other "gaming" sites and why he should be considered any less legitimate a "game journalist" than anyone else who makes it to N4G then one has simply no choice but to conclude that complaining about HipHopGamer simply because he does not look, dress, spell, talk or behave like you.

Based on all the reviews, here's how KZ2 stacks up against the competition. 1 point awarded for a win in a category.

COD5 Halo3 Gears2 KZ2 Resistance 2
Graphics: 0 0 0 1 0
Sound: 0 0 0 1 0
AI: 0 0 0 1 0
Physics: 0 0 0 1 0

What does this mean? That Killzone 2 has raised the bar.

at a time when each new console was brought significant new innovations in visuals and gameplay.

When Sony announced the PS2, they put out some amazing looking tech demos that were simply far beyond anything the Dreamcast could muster. One of the key difference was that the PS2 was capable of pushing far more polygons than the Dreamcast. At that time, increases in polygon count made a huge difference to visuals.

Despite the complaints by Dreamcast fans that Son...

"Sony flaps their mouth off about the 4D Playstation 3."

It's called hype.

"They arrogantly slap a 600.00 price tag and tell gamers to get a second job."

Pricing a product $300 below cost is arrogant?

"After that they tell the world that people will buy it even if it didn't have games."

And they were right. Numerous consumers bought it as a Blu-Ray player. In fact, it's still the best se...

but looks like it was designed by Kaz Hirai (not literally). In other words, while it communicates the information adequately, it does not convincingly portray the sheer audiovisual drama and raw testosterone of actual Killzone 2 gameplay. In other words, the game's a lot more exciting than the ad. Sony's marketing is improving (no crying doll!) but there's still room for improvement.

In contrast Microsoft's Halo 3 TV ads were absolutely breathtaking while the game itself w...

KZ2 has vastly superior graphics. The lighting, models, physics, textures, etc are all superior. KZ2 is actually a hell of a lot "cleaner" than RE5. These shots are poorly selected because they feature motion blur, which softens the image. A better comparison would be Uncharted, althought that too is superior to RE5 in almost every area. The one metric that favors RE5 over Uncharted is the number of enemies on screen.

Microsoft launched the Xbox division to take over the living room.

The Xbox 360, despite massive price-cuts, simply does not have the broad consumer appeal necessary to succeed in this mission. Yes, it has sold almost 9M a year worldwide (average annual sales) and game sales are excellent but being an also-ran in the console market is a far cry from the dream of invading hundreds of millions of living rooms around the world.

Microsoft has realized they went about it...

Actually, Forza 2's physics engine is not nearly as powerful as that of GT5's. It all comes down to the type of algorithms used.

Polyphony Digital's algorithms are designed with floating point math in mind while Forza's is based on integer math.

This goes back to the PS2 and Xbox. While the Xbox had stronger integer performance than the PS2, the PS2 had much stronger floating point performance and the engines for those games were designed with those relative st...

try again.

The one genuine success the 360 had in 2008 came at the end of the year when it climbed out of third place in sales to outsell the PS3. Yet it was still massively outsold by the Wii.

In other words, the 360 lost every important battle to PS3 or Wii in 2008 except software sales.
