Great site reaction to this issue Christopher. I wish more sites would have this attitude.

I wouldn't call it shallow. It has some pretty complex mechanics re hatching, evolution, battles, etc etc.

It's also causing a lot of people to socialise.. it's incredibly well designed. It shouldn't have a campaign because it's about *you* and your local setting.

I've got more hours of gameplay out of my dk2 than I have from my WiiU or Vita, and it's still going strong. A lot of games work best in short bursts.. but there are games that work best in long sittings too, using VR.. You just have to be particular with game choice.

I don't think that particular tech would help with something like cod.. if you feel like you're spinning you'll still feel like you're spinning, haha.

Simulating real motion just means you'll have more realistic motion sickness in unrealistically twitchy games. XD

Burden or opportunity? Personally I dont like playing something this fast paced (and on foot) in VR.. Team Fortress 2 etc are pretty nauseating on the oculus.. To me. I'd welcome studios trying to make super fast twitchy games work nicely in it though.. I'm not sure how they'd pull it off. The amount you have to spin and stuff in CoD - it doesn't strike me as the ideal game for this tech. It'd be like playing inside a salad spinner.

A slower, more method...

Umm you can definitely do VR porn on the Oculus Rift, Vive and Samsung VR..

They're just stereoscopic video files with head (angle) tracking. If Sony release a 3D movie movie player you can import your own files into then VR porn will work on PSVR too.

It's nice to see companies try their hand at vr porn (and other video production).. A lot of the VR porn currently available is prettttty bad. XD Different strokes for different folks I guess.

They went to a games PR event to play games, chat and have snacks.. For attention?

I hate to say it, but you're talking bollocks.

@myopt - of course PC has the "best" overall, it has the advantage of decades of games in its library.

If you tastes skew toward recent 3rd person action games consoles do well, but PC has more variety.

Well, I love the UC series and I've *always* felt a pretty big disconnect between the gung-ho shooting and characterisation - that was completely missing in TLOU. The tone is partly what does it though. :) (and just because other things also have a similar disconnect doesn't mean UC is beyond comment.)

It's not a flaw but it's definitely a thing, which different people will care differing amounts about. It's great that UC4 lets you stealth your way throu...

Lol I love how Ryse is a dirty word here.

The combat is definitely Ryse-ish-looking. Anyone who disagrees with that is just weird. Ryse-like combat could definitely be done better though so maybe this is the game that'll do that.

That's the thing though - death does have the same weight when it's people we care about in the game.

It goes to great lengths to explain why drake and co have this dark side, yet everyone else is expendable/"evil". I mean, joining a mercenary army doesn't mean you don't have a family or feelings.. In the other games you occasionally murder guards and people in organisations who definitely don't consider themselves in the wrong, and you can'...

Helps to *read the article* guys. Evan was totally clear what he meant about "identity crisis" and it wasn't an insult to the series at all.

It's to do with the disconnect between shooting everyone without much though and being a loveable rogue, mostly - something that's hardly uniquely noticed by Kotaku, haha.

Well obviously. That's not really the point though.

This was pretty weird to watch, the Reddit, the Twitter posts.. People get so into this stuff it's scary.

I really like the environmental storytelling and writing in Gone Home. It's more of an experience than a traditional game though, obviously.. So a lot of people don't like that. Or it's subject matter, which was fine with me, but as a game it left me simultaneously impressed and frustrated.. Which is at least a reaction!

Not one of my favourites by a long shot but I'm happy to have played it. Same applies for Dear Esther etc. They're so short - I'm ...

Fair dos, it's a bit mean if them then. :)

A bit mean to call guardian a starfox clone! Graphically they were similar but they play nothing alike, Guardian has free movement.
