Does that mean consoles and laptops are invalid gaming platforms too? Seems like a slippery slope considering most people don't upgrade their PCs hardware much beyond RAM and HDD anyway.
Windows has always ran on x86. The mac has had three major architecture transitions in its lifetime, for good reason. It used to run on the same Motorola CPUs used in Ataris and Amigas. PowerPC was backwards compatible enough to work Without breaking all te previous software. They only switched when PPC became a dead end and intel CPUs could emulate the PPC legacy apps fast enough.
The vast majority did not blame viruses on the choice of CPU. You can't lump an entire user...
As a gamer/collector who plays a lot and works a lot on computers, who uses Windows predominantly for gaming and the Mac for everything else.. It doesn't bother me much how supported OS X is for gaming, though it's been nice to see it get some gaming love lately.
The anger shown here at an OS is sad. Some people like using it! Get over it and stop the FUD. It is possible to appreciate more than one platform for what it offers.
They'd look a lot better had they not airbrushed definition along the underside of them to make them look bigger.. As if they needed to look bigger. >.<
Hell YES, I've spent a lot of time in both, but I'd give the award to MC in a heartbeat.
It really depends on their criteria for GOTY though. Skyrim is really more of the same in regards to the Elder Scroll series, MC is a breath of fresh air in comparison.
http://n4g.com/news/887139/... - is why I respect any publication or organization who gives MC credit.
This makes a really good point, id never really thought about it much! Let's hope the industry can come up with ways to keep the online features persistant long after release.
I hope they optimise the iPod/iPhone version too.. Its a bit choppy when doing summons etc. PSP version had the same thing, the only totally smooth FFT has been the PS1 original, which i find very strange!
I like it a lot too (as does my 3y/o daughter!) Some of the games are challenging but they only take a moment each so it's a good quick fix game.
I wish edge would switch to a 5 point system. Admittedly their scores get a lot of discussion, thus publicity.. But it sucks that their scores don't even slightly hold up against others within a single issue. How the heck did they like neverdead that much? Often I agree with their review text but not their final score which sometimes seems totally random. I think edge is a genuinely (usually) good publication with integrity and some good writers, but just crazy scores.

I still don't like the idea of screens on controllers. Not many games benefit from having to look away from the tv to look at something else. :/
I'm amazed these stories are still so popular.
We've known this forever. Doesn't really affect the gamers providing the developers put in the work to learn the system/s.
Its not like either console's games are selling badly so at the end of the day why does it matter?
Wow, do you guys know the difference between a question and a statement? Asking whether ND have made a mistake is fine, at least he backs it up well.
Personally I think ND know exactly what they're doing. I'm as interested to see gameplay footage as anyone and will withhold any judgement until then. I do suspect he's right about critical response though, it's almost statistically impossible TLOU could be as well received as the uncharted series would be. I don...
Handhelds and phones and tablets etc will all continue to coexist fine, catering to different play styles and users.
I do think iPods/pads/phones/tablets will eat into handheld sales for a transitional period while people work out what gadgets best suit their needs.
I'll get the Sony console first, and wait on the others until they're proven to be reliable and there have been price drops. Generally you cn rely on Sony to have some of the weirder, more experimental titles and exclusives, and that's what I love most.
If i had more limited space and money I'd get whichever suited my needs once all three companies have released their consoles. If, like this generation there are killer apps on each platform i'd have to fin...
I couldn't help reading this in the style of a bad 80s TV ad.
"Whew—let’s bow to power." !! "Imagine free games, cheap games, and addictive non-stop games. The possibilities are endless and thrilling." !! "Endless possibilities with the Xbox360. Games, CDs, movies and customized music. It even connects to the Microsoft media center for a complete media sensation. You can let your creativity and innovativeness take wing." !!

Not always true, there are quite a few mid-high end HDTVs that take advantage of the full RGB spectrum and benefit from full RGB mode.

Skyrim has no pre-rendered cutscenes. :)
In the 90s "Elite 2: Frontier" fit an entire galaxy in 820kb.. (a single Amiga floppy disk) In 3d. You could fly down and land on the planets, dock in stations.. Do a lot of the stuff youd currently do in EVE online but from a first person perspective. In some ways storage space has no impact on the size of the game world, it really depends what you fill it with.
The size limit is only a problem when you have...
Project64 worked fine for me 5 years ago.. Has it got worse since?
I love PC gaming, but id have trouble picking between console and PC for games..
Its nice to see a Commodore user too.. Go C= Amiga. :)
What's the point of 1080p footage of games that don't use 1080p?
This is looking really nice though. :)
Wow someone's living in the past! Death star HDDs (that were also used by many PC manufacturers) are ancient news. Apple haven't made a single PPC based Mac in something like 5 years! Not even most osX app developers support PPC now, nobody's expecting game devs to.
I have a game design degree.. There were about 50% mac owners by the time I left. All know how to install things, compile things etc. Why would Apple limit things by version number in OS X? People havi...
