My prediction. The 360 will still continue to sell very well, with games like Gears 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell, etc. etc. 360 owners have plenty to look foward to. I also predict M$ will release one more SKU with again a bigger HDD, HDMI, built-in Wifi. But not so sure about a built-in HD-DVD.
As for the PS3, this is where we'll see the most growth. No it probably wont catch up to the 360's install base, but it will definitely get bigger. We all know the big ti...
Now we're eventually going to see a bunch of posts with "Toshiba has released an official announcement that it will start supporting Blu-Ray." And Toshiba will say something like "Although we're backing HD-DVD, it seems after further analysis the consumers have chosen Blu-Ray. Please note, with every HD-DVD movie purchase from here on, you get 5 free Blu-Ray movies! So you can still buy HD-DVDs!"

There's room for both. Sometimes, people might want to watch a movie and forget about it. While at other times, there's a movie that simply must be owned. For example if I heard a movie was decent from a friend and wanted to check it out anyway, i'd probably go with the DD. But if there's a movie that blows my mind, like let's say 300. I'd want a hard copy to keep forever and watch it any time I want.

blu-ray is making more profit. why? more software sales. that's including PS3 games plus blu-ray movies. PS3 games are on BD discs, and guess what. that's also part of the profit for the BDA. that's why the boys in blu can afford those super nice stands showing the real wave of the future, while hd-dvd is showing the wave of the future from 1999.

don't worry, in the next couple years when blu-ray is standardizing. the sony haters of today will eventually have to buy a blu-ray disc of some sort. either for a movie, BR-Rrw, or MGS4. doesn't matter. and they have to digg into their souls, suck it up, and realize they're buying a sony product.

Yup the only game i'd buy a 360 for (even though i already have one) is probably gears of war.

yes true, that only means more people are GOING to buy HDTVs. which in very likely cases they'll end up buying a 360 or PS3 to go with it. Which is pretty much what's going to kill off the Wii in the future.

720p is "good" enough for 37"s and below. But come on, pioneer, get your heads out of your asses.
Samsung's 81 series has a contrast ratio of 500,000:1 on 40", 46", and 52" sets. all with a LED backlight which reduces input lag and almost gives you the 120hz auto motion effect. and best of all, they are all 1080p.

Yeah unfortunately this game could be mediocre, regardless of what platform. But i'm buying it anyway.
betrayed by the hardware makers and film companies? how so? that's what a format war was all about. something had to lose, and someone has to take the pain. blu-ray owners happened to be a majority of the HD market, so if anything. satisfying the MAJORITY of the market is better than satisfying the minority which is HD-DVD.
