Pretty much they're saying "Yeah we're goin to continue to sell HD-DVDs to any consumers that are gonna buy them and quite frankly we don't care if they're getting screwed in the future. As long as we make the sales now."
well it's some reality involved in it. yeah warner going to blu-ray is a hard blow. but it's not quite over yet. it's just a waiting game now for universal, toshiba, and paramount to go blu. i'm guessing by 2009 they might throw in the towel.
yeah UMD fails as a movie format. however it's still going to be used for psp games.
36k, +40k from Japan. So that's 76k more worldwide. However giving the 360 the benefit of the doubt, it still sold 40k more than the PS3 in NA. But that's only temporary. By Q2, that's going to change quite nicely.
Official Statement from Konami and Microsoft: MGS4 is coming to the XBOX! "Yes, that's right. The Highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid game is coming to the XBOX, we have confirmed a release date of March 23rd, 2012. Please note that this will be released on the XBOX3."
see what you don't understand you stupid f'in 360 fanboy, is that ps3 owners want MGS4 to play MGS4. You obviously want MGS4 to gloat about stupid numbers with no regards to the actual game. Stick to Halo 3. Stick to that wannabe MGS called Splinter Cell. You're not worth it for a series like Metal Gear Solid.
i downloaded and played the demo, and it was... meh? also probably cause i cant understand. so yeah, demo sucked.
however, this will probably do well in japan. probably sell 200,000 copies. who knows.
secondly to zhuk. show me yakuza 1, and yakuza 2 on xbox. then we'll see about yakuza 3 on 360. but if it does ever go to the 360. oh well, game is not that great anyway.
i've never seen so much crying and whining from the industry. hell, the PS3 was picked on from 90 different angles, yet they held they're heads up high and stuck to a gameplan. "The PS3 will have a 10 year lifecycle, and we will back blu-ray 100%"
they didn't sit around, mope and complain about what they didn't do. they looked on what they can improve, what the consumers want, and project themselves to a successful future. a company has to hold itself in high esteem f...
what people don't seem to understand, is that regardless if blu-ray's "features" are less than hd-dvd. it doesn't matter. it's studio support and the type of movies that are out on it. the general consumer is what makes or break the format. and guess what, the general consumer buys Disney movies for disney movies. they could give a crap about profile 1.432253234324234 or whatever, they just want to watch the movie or let their family watch it. that's how blu-ray is winning.
...
Eh, by 2009 when all broadcasts are HD only. People who bought a Wii will buy a PS3 or 360 to hook it up to they're hdtv.
bubble for you. i 100% agree seeing as how there's no real concrete evidence of RE5's release date. not until capcom says so.
EDIT:
what the hell was the disagree for? (whoever it was)
is there a f'in release date anywhere in this article?
sooo.... releasing a dual-format player that people will only buy blu-ray's for anyway. that's not going to help them. it's just gonna promote blu-ray even more.
By the end of 2008, expect a 18 million PS3 install base, on top of the standalone BR players. Secondly, STUDIO support. If you're head's so far up your ass to realize that studio support is what makes a format succeed, then you won't ever know. And what's my proof? HELLOOO??? That's what this whole debate with Warner going to Bluray only is all about. Because regardless of what format comes out, HVD with 5 billion gb's of space won't matter without the studio support. And right now, OBVIOUSL...
Microsoft partnering with Disney and MGM has nothing to do with HD-DVD. if anything, it will "accelerate" HD-DVD's death. Why buy a HD-DVD player when you can just download movies off XBL. Face it, people are going to buy blu-ray players or PS3s to watch all the big hits. While if they are truely content on not buying a PS3 or blu-ray, then they can just download those movies on XBL and avoid HD-DVD altogether.
this is by far the "lamest" comeback ever. I can tolerate "the 360 has great games" cause I agree. i can tolerate "the 360 has better graphics than some PS3 games" cause I can agree to some level.
but controllers are PURE PREFERENCE by person to person.
300,000 HD-DVD add-on's for the 360.
9 Million Blu Ray Players for the PS3. Plus any standalone players out there. So meh.
So BluRay was dominating 70% to 30% of the market sales without Warner Bro's exclusivity. It will dominate 90% to 10% of the market sales with them. Yeah they're not lost, they still have 10% of the sales left. /sarcasm
so very very ironically true. bubble for you!
The industry is a crazy thing. Trends come and go. And unfortunately, HD-DVD is going the way of the Betamax. I think Blu-Ray adopters need to stop gloating now, and just enjoy the movies coming. It was a fun ride, many feelings were hurt. But come on, people at Toshiba and Microsoft has feelings too. Let's all just enjoy what movies are for, watching. Not battling each other out. Sit back, and wait for Gears of War and Halo to come out on blu-ray.
it was a great title on the 360. it's just unfortunate it didn't sell as well as it should though.
