Good to see the series spreading its wings yet further. Good review.
Not excited about the MMO, but I'll probably be drawn inexorably to Force Unleashed II.
The original was far from perfect, but it had that little seed of unrealised greatness in amongst the generally flat gameplay.
Here's hoping LucasArts can actually deliver something more rounded this time around.
Personally, I'm holding my allocation of 'puzzle cash' for Super Scribblenauts.
I'd really need to play some of today's fighters before taking sides in this discussion.
2D or 3D, never been a huge fan of the genre. Last fighter I played was probably Soul Calibur on the original Dreamcast (back in '99). Geez.
I'm assuming things have come a long way in 11 years, but back then I'd rather play in 3D than 2D... wasn't a fan of Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat if memory serves.
I agree about the 'graphics don't matter' thing -- but only to a point. I'm sure the gameplay probably shines, but visually it does look a little like a dull science exercise.
:)
I'm not yet sold on the 3DS, but that won't stop Nintendo from making another squillion dollars as existing DS owners flock to upgrade their Nintendogs experience.
Jaded? Me? Naaaah.
Didn't we have this 'lame, not lame' debate when Nintendo changed the 'Revolution' to the 'Wii'?
The branding really doesn't matter. What matters is whether Kinect is actually any good... and that will largley come down to games.
Which is why, as Microsoft seems to be aiming squarely at the casual market with Kinect, I'm holding off until the technology proves itself in 'proper' videogames.
Um, yeah... and I'm saying the exact same thing here.
The core gameplay in inFamous was its sandbox navigation, which the first game pretty much nailed. Who cares if the sequel's design has been changed/improved as long as the sandbox action is still awesome?
The artisic changes people are bitching about here amount to little more than a re-skinning due to improved developer focus -- probably because inFamous is now an established franchise, not ...
Couldn't be less interested. Galloping horses, a naked Kiera Knightley and an Orlando Bloom with acting skills couldn't change my mind.
Should be huge, and deservedly so.
Sooooo all-played-out with Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Feels as though EA and Activision are gimmick dredging at this point.
Try as I might, I just can't get excited about Skyward Sword. Nintendo is going to have to show some genuine gameplay/narrative originality (not just pretty aesthetics and a Wii control system) in order to secure my pennies for this one.
Meh, just cannot get myself worked up for brawlers nowadays. Must be gettin' old.
It's like waiting a decade for your favourite band to release its second album, only to find the songs all sound the same but aren't quite as good as those on the first album.
I think the 'new' GoldenEye, regardless of how good it may end up being, will suffer by comparison to the N64 version... and possibly only because of a flowery fondness for a fairly standard FPS title that hasn't stood the test of time when gauged against today's market.
Hmmm, sounds intriguing... though the Square Enix label is no guarantee of top-notch quality these days eh.
I'm with Stephanie on this one. No knowledge of the original, but certainly interested in the re-boot.
Gah, hate to be the odd one out, but you're all off centre with Alpha Protocol. I've played through it twice now, and had a blast both times.
The key to enjoyment is focused levelling, it's really that simple. Don't spread your points too thinly.
For example, on my first playthrough, I spent only on Stealth and Pistols, maxing them out and then spending in Toughness towards the end for added endurance. Stealth kills and Pistol power-ups we...
It looked amazing at GamesCom last year, so it's perhaps no surprise to see jaws dropping at E3.
I think id are the real kings of FPS when it comes to tech and aesthetics (Valve wins on narrative), so I've high hopes for Rage.
I also love the fact that id don't ever rush their product to market.
Me thinks Rage will be huge.
Fable II was a big improvement over the original, so here's hoping the progressional trend continues.
My only real complaint about II was that the ending lacked impact.
Heard good things about this, may have to seek it out.
