Sexy explosions are common as muck these days... but for me, standout titles that begun the trend are Half-Life 2 (more from the sound design) and Black (for ferocity).
The original Bad Company was awesome for big bangs too.
Yet more Mega Man goodness. Sweeeet.
Yup, never heard of it, but it looks solid. Might have to join you on that one.
@totoguy: Sucks to be a Euro-pee-on. I mean, we only just got Demon's Souls.
Sooo looking forward to a little more Donkey Kong. This and Kirby's new title certainly helped Nintendo get around the 'no games for gamers' label at E3.
Ack, GZ... you're killing me. I so don't want or need an iPhone but all these positive reviews are pushing me to buy. Waaah.
Who would have thunk it.
And not an isolated review score either... IGN gave it 9/10.
A surprise shining light in an otherwise dark and dreary summer of gaming.
Roll on Q3 and the big hitters.
Give it up SEGA. Beyond the retro crowd, Sonic's mass appeal is well and truly dead thanks to the awful games you've presented him in over the years.
I went to a few developer/publisher parties during GamesCom 2009... though nothing quite so 'off the hook.'
They were more restrained in the sense of tons of people standing about chatting and drinking free ale... or, even better, hogging an outdoor section of a pub on a warm summer's night with regular people.
The above party feels somewhat forced.
'Hey, there are scantily clad women and a fire dude here... now surely t...
Wii Sports with arms and necks. I prefer my tennis games to be a tad more realistic in every department. I'm old fashioned like that.
Is it me or is the iPhone little more than a haven for shovelware?
I hear that... this almost makes me feel bad for selling my PSP too. Almost.
Not sure about Risk as a boardgame conversion. I think I prefer the shock of seeing an opponent's fury directed at me over a board on a table as opposed to through a hurled controller.
Plus, you can't reach for the power button on a boardgame -- though flipping the board and killing the game is always an option. :)
I'd like to believe that IW's problems will make it a better, stronger studio that produces a wealth of new IPs that reach beyond narratively-bereft first-person shooters.
Somehow, given the studio's history and Activision's reputation as the new EA, I don't see that happening.
More likely IW will get to feel what it's like to be Treyarch.
Seems that Power Gig, and even Rock Band 3 with its strung guitar, are more instrument trainers than videogames. Is substituting frustration for fun really the future for those of us not so musically inclined?
Having felt the disappointment of multiple sucky Sonics, I really wish Sega would pull the plug... or actually make a decent game. Maybe this time.
Keeping an eye on Vanquish... as for Bayonetta, I loved it too.
Good feature. Great trek down Mario memory lane.
I really enjoyed Black, thought it was one of the most unappreciated FPS titles back on the PS2.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what they can with Bulletstorm.
I'd go with Red Faction too. Soooo much fun.
