I must be the only person I know who thinks Mario games suck total balls (with the notable exception of mario kart, which isn't really mario so my statement still stands).

Have to disagree with you a little about the refinements to the PS4 there Darth.
With every update I got on PS3, I never saw a single major upgrade to the dashboard. Maybe I had to enable it manually somewhere, but I still have that ribbon thingy down the middle. Not saying its a bad dashboard. I kinda like it.

So will people still bleat on about the performance advantage of the PS4 making better visuals, therefore a better game?

'Great' exclusives (matter of opinion) do not sell systems. I've got a PS3 to play the exclusives. I bought first 2 uncharted, heavy rain (loved), motorstorm 1 and 2 (1 was best), valkyria chronicles (awesome), infamous (great) Little Big Planet (ok) and killzone 2 (turd). My opinions.
There are many more I know. However, many of the PS3 big hitters did squat for system sales.

Same goes for PS4. And as yet, it has done nothing to warrant such a fan frenzy. People may point to its slight power advantage (in fact most do). However its not powerful at all. My 'old' pc which I've just upgraded spanks the living daylights out of it. I'm not pc 'master race' as I've got both x360 and PS3 and spent most of the past number of years online with mates on x360. I've seen nothing to get excited about. Hopefully that will change.
