I hated them as a gamer because they went the fortnite route instead of infiltrator/samaritan route. They always seemed a bit cash gravy in my eyes. I didnt even play the games at $1 I've signed up twice at $1 blasted some of their "big hitters" realised most the library is wank didn't play it after the first day. I think I got a week or so of playtime in of gears and state of decay the first time I subbed. Everything else was shit really.

This isnt 3d audio its binaural.
Its recorded using a head with microphones in the ear lobes to get an accurate take on audio entering the ear canal.
What if you want to same effect on a large environment. Currently you would probably have to use binaural then then decrease the volume so it sounds like it's coming from a distance. Also wouldnt work with digital sfx.

I think you're all getting 3d audio mixed up with either 360 audio or binaural audio. I'm pretty sure 3d audio isnt available yet. I know audio software such as Wise or Fmod offer the option to place the sound as "3d" however the specialisation isn't as accurate at all.
These audio advancements got added to UE4 LAST WEEK with UE4.25!!!!!
They haven't been in engines forever at all and 3d audio is not supported on current gen or ...
