But yeah nah, it takes more than pixel count. However, on ps5 this will be running native 4k60.... couple that with better anim, textures, shaders, lighting, particles, mechanics, storytelling and the list goes on...you get what I'm saying. Rdr2 doesnt stand a chance side by side.
Literally everything else in tlou2 looks better than rdr2.

The thing is ps5 can load the gpu resources faster
Cleaver level design, culling methods and all the talent over at naughty dog will ensure the best looking games are still playstation exclusives.
You use LOD to remove triangles. Wouldn't that be the GPU not CPU?
Also. LODS aren't really time consuming. Only saves a few minutes per asset in UE4. Appreciated feature though for sure!
