Yeah I’ll go ahead and agree with everything you said.
A better example of how much Spider-Man would have had to be compromised on Xbox would be looking at RDR2 on the OG Xbox, which I don’t even think ran at 720p when PS4 ran at 1080p.
I would look at Sunset Overdrive and Spider-Man as comparisons of what the OG Xbox and OG PS4 were comparably capable of.
Both of these games were made by the same developer, a great developer, and one game is just bigger and faster than the other.
The OG Xbox hardware was not capable of the Spider-Man game everyone wanted.
It just took one more major delay.
Which studio would’ve handled it at the time? They would’ve had a tough time getting it to run at 1080p on the OG Xbox One hardware.
It doesn’t.
Because Kojima has made AAA games for 30+ years, Days Gone was Bend Studios’ first AAA outing (and the initial, key word, lack of polish showed this lack of exp)
I beat it twice.
I want it.
Are you saying the media’s opinion doesn’t matter?

You have no idea what was possible with the flying mounts on ps5. If they could’ve been sped up, I’m sure they would’ve been. I’m happier that they focused on the swimming mechanics feeling tight.
Xbox has an advantage for market penetration: the Series S requiring less chip resources for production means the average chip resources needed for a next-gen Xbox user is on average less than for a ps5 user. Ultimately, this means they can put more consoles on shelves with the same amount of chip resources. It was a good business decision for Xbox, but I don’t think it would’ve been a necessary move for Sony.
I think Sony’s library and announced releases after 3 years of...
1) 100% reliable ADS
2) More thoughtful map design
3) Fixed hovercrafts
4) Remove EVERY specialist catchphrase (they all suck and get old very, very quickly).
5) Make specialists an unlock for a life…. We really don’t need this many people with special abilities at any one time. It makes everything just too unpredictable, and ultimately hurts the map design.
I disagree. I am considering what I see as the big picture: profit.
I don’t see how Horizon 2 was held back at all by PS4 hardware. Feel free to share…. I just see a game that would’ve sold millions on ps5, and, through a very minimal investment to remove certain reflections and lighting effects, allowed them to make millions more in PS4 sales.
Ultimately, a studio’s profit determines the budget of their games. If a dev leaves money on the table becaus...
I trust Sony to let devs do what is best. It might actually be really, really tough to design a game that simply cannot be made to run on PS4 by reducing resolutions, frame rates, and fancy reflections.
Horizon 2 is a great example. It looks stupendous on the ps5, and it can still be cut down for old hardware. And there’s no harm here in getting more sales for the dev.
As long as studios push the ps5 hardware every time, I’m sure the games will be great...
Alotta Konami fans, huh?
Sony is HBO, and Game Pass is Netflix. Which has better content AND managed to keep its price low long term?
Microsoft is making short term promises by taking losses on game pass in order to TRY to change the competition for Sony into a realm they CAN compete in: taking losses.
Sony needs to keep making enviable games, and Microsoft should try to keep up for once. Ffs, Halo 2 used to have the PS2 beat.
A watch can run DOOM, technically. It depends on your standards.
