Who cares? Both mii's and avatars are mostly irrelevant. Shoehorning them into games doesn't change that fact.

The only people these things are relevant to are the people who use them. If MS wants to improve that experience for those people, so be it...

There was a moment in the video I was watching where the player streaming was swimming to an island. There was a player who stayed on the boat who screamed "lookout a shark!" He turned around and shot it in the face the instant before it killed him....

It had some real treasure cove vibes...

I too hate sharks in video games. My fear began with Tomb Raider back in the day.

Sure you'll have groups of friends who just clown each other. You have groups of friends who actually try to get good and hunt treasure. Youll have friends who just troll other ships. You'll have people who meet up randomly or in Clubs or LFG who take it seriously...

Different people and groups will play differently.

I was watching session after e3, and the crew had their treasure chest stolen while they were enroute to a trading post. They were able to kill the guy that took it, but the guy who tried to recover it got lost at sea and killed by a shark.

So they went to hunt another treasure and ended up encountering a 3 way ship battle. They joined in the fray, and shortly after a 5th ship showed up.

It was absolutely baddass and hilarious.

I hope ...

100 percent disagree that they aren't moving it forward... they are simply putting most of their effort on development and the PC space, where experimental efforts are more appreciated.

They've got 5 manufactures makes HMDs for windows 10- enabling the type of competition that will drive prices down and will be compatible with Xbox. They've invested heavily is wireless HMD tech and inside-out tracking w/o additional hardware.

They demo VR and ...

It's funny you say that, when VR headsets are expensive paperweights for a lot of people. Why would they make VR a big focus at e3 when the masses generally don't care about VR?

I guarantee that the $500 paperweight that is the xb1x will easily outsell every VR headset on the market. Why? Because it can play the quality of games that gamers expect.

@Crotaaa

It doesn't matter how you wanna slice it, the Xbox platform wouldn't put a dent in VR adoption woes.

People just aren't all that interested- the price isn't right, the games aren't there- People want to play BotW, Horizon, Destiny, Anthem, Super Mario Odyssey, Assassin's, CODWWII quality games, and VR doesn't have that.

After an initial excitement, investors are pulling back heavily due to disinteres...

Xbox ain't gonna make VR popular. Xbox itself isn't all that popular.

People just are hesitant to spend hundreds of dollars on additional hardware when the games that support it generally aren't very great.

Somewhere there's a joke about bricks providing stability ;)

I hope this isn't a widespread issue

I doubt they'll heed your feedback. Having it on the menu increases its exposure. There are many people who, like you, don't watch other gamers. But many will try it out simply BECAUSE it's a menu option. Then, some who try it will stick with it. That's how they intend to grow the service.

How many game reveals have you witnessed?

How often is it that a company reveals a highly anticipated sequel- without showing or discussing the features and additions that warrant it being called a sequel?

From a marketing standpoint, Why would Bungie reveal their sequel exclusively with footage that could mistaken for an expansion pack? If you want, Look at how they revealed Halo2 for comparison- a 8 minute demonstration that immediately informed the vie...

That's one way to look at it. But you're assuming that EVERY Xbox exclusive would also be exclusive to gamepass. I really doubt that's a business model they would explore.

Something more likely would be smaller titles launching on the service - similar to how Rocket League debuted as a PS+ game. You also might see things like GamePass users getting early access to certain titles- the same way EA Access gives an early trial.

Arguing to Arue? How long do you think it takes to demonstrate exciting new additions to the core gameplay?

That's generally the stuff "reveals" are made of. If they had it to show, they would have shown it.

They had their demo, they demoed a mission, and they had numerous press briefings about the game, all with out noting much new to garner excitement about.

Proving your point?

No one wants the core gameplay of a sequel to be unrecognizable compared to the original. That's not why Destiny 2 is being criticized. No one wants Destiny 2 to "feel" like something other than Destiny.

What people DO want from a sequel are: substantial additions and technological advancements, not just quality of life improvements.

QOL improvements are what people expect from expansions, and that'...

Specifically, people have these same complaints about COD and Madden EVERY SINGLE TIME, a sequel comes out. The running joke is that madden games are just roster updates.

When it comes to racing sims> fans generally want better graphics and physics models- which Forza provides everytime, they also incorporate new tech, like drivatars. Forza horizon has been completely unpredictable in terms of what new experiences sequels bring.

Halo isn't a good ...

How much time should it take to properly sell a game as a sequel?

Isn't it better when a sequel is a 2.0 version of the first?

This is a problem matchmaking would fix. The reason people are "inexperienced" or "lie in LFG" is because they can't get any experience--- BECAUSE THEY CANT GET INTO THE RAIDS!

How can people get experience if their lack of experience keeps people from wanting to play with them? And with a lack of a group, they can't even access the raids to learn them.

Letting randoms gets together and atleast experience the raids and learn vi...

Retailers want to make as much money as possible. If a game is selling like hot cakes, there's no need to mark it down because the demand is already high.

they mark down games to increase demand.

3401d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

People have a limited amount of money to spend and a limited amount of time to play. So yes there is a process of elimination effect.

Releasing TF2 alongside 2 popular FPS clearly had a negative impact on its visibility. launching away from direct competition would have allowed for more media coverage and more visible marketing. It also would privide an opportunity to capitalize on cod/BF fans who are ready to move on after a few months with those games.
