Its sad though. I wish RAD would use gameplay like Naughty Dog do. I know that's easier said than done, but still.
Their gameplay philosophy right now, atleast from the demos I watched, is one that pulls the experience down - it hinders the story and immersion because of the seemingly artificial setup.

However, you just can't blame half the online gaming population for finding this disturbing.

Killing in GTA, Just Cause 2, Call of Duty - Is that disturbing ? No. Why ? Simple - its because it wasn't designed to be. Thats what the tone is like, thats what the narrative is like. Killing in those games does not get any emotional response from the player.

You know, as much as a lot of people dislike or like the gameplay and say this on previews, its up to you to decide.
Just watch the gameplay demo, scrutinize it and see if it comes off as cinematic and real, or limiting and artificial.
Also, at the end of the day, as long as there is some basic gameplay that isn't horrible anyway, the game can still be great. I disliked the gameplay when I thought about that aspect. I thought it could be done better, but you kno...

As a PC gamer who is more excited about something like Project Cars, I can safely say that on the general effects side of things, this game is by far the best.
Very true. Also, as much as we all love CD Projekt, the delay could also signify that the game isn't all it was made out to be. This was the case with a bunch of games a while back.
Still, CD Projekt have earned our trust as customers, so they do indeed deserve to have their word taken for what it is.
Thats not the issue. Its not about open world or anything. Forgive me for doing this, but here is something from a long comment I posted earlier. Details my problems with what I saw in terms of gameplay.

The tech demos they were doing some time ago now show in many games. It will just take some time. Many of the features they advertised a while back are used in tons of games on PC.
Ofcourse, no game will use something like this to its fullest extent, unless the game itself is mainly about that particular aspect.

I haven't played it but the driving experience looks fantastic. Its not a sim, so you might not get the same depth, but from what I can see from gameplay footage it more than makes up for it. Very intense driving experience.

Watch a video of a race in the rain. Watch the water interacting with the windscreen and the wipers and all that. They actually respond to force and motion of the car - they behanve like fluids, clumping up, flowi...
it doesn't have to change the way we play anything. No one really wants to have a complete change. Many authors will then say its too generic. The reason it feels generic is that there isn't anything to do at any given time except to move and shoot. Thats what makes it feel generic.
If it has nothing more than basic gunplay, and doesn't give you enough mechanics to play with at any one time, then the gameplay will come off as boring or meh or whatever. Thats just ...

60fps is nice and all, but a stable 30 will be fine for this game. You PS owners enjoy this one, because it looks great

Its because the youtube video makes it look like crap. Compression ruins it completely when you have a natural environment filled with foliage and rocks.
It looked mediocre to be honest.
Then, I went to Gamersyde and watched the 1080p uncompressed video (or less compressed, whatever)

The recent trailer we got showed a coop boss battle. That was so epic. Not only was it thrilling to watch, but it also did a good job of setting up some lore

The demo did look underwhelming in one respect - the environment. I've see a lot better. Its just how foliage works - very few games render it correctly, because it requires a ton of processing power. The rocks and foliage looked very... last gen, so to say. Ofcourse, I'm saying this because I'm a PC gamer. There are games on PC which focus specifically on making the natural environment look incredible. Crysis 3 is a good example.

A reveal or gameplay trailer of anything from NaughtyDog is one of the most exciting things for me, almost right up there with my excitement for The Witcher 3 and Star Citizen.
