It’s certainly one of the better games of the generation.
Ghost of Tsushima should now be on that list. That game deserves a 90 at least on Metacritic. The user reviews are more accurate though. It’s at 9.2 at the moment.
The combat in GoT is much better than Witcher 3. I thought the combat in Witcher 3 was serviceable but nothing special.

I would take longer battery life over faster charging.

Backward compatibility on Xbox One is emulated, not native. There’s no reason PS5 couldn’t emulate old games.

I would argue that Wii U and Switch are both 8th gen consoles. There’s no rule that says a company can’t release multiple consoles in a single generation. It’s happened before. But I also can’t say you’re objectively wrong since the concept of a console generation is not that well defined.
The SSD is primarily to speed up data transfer rates. It will have little impact on graphics quality.
I think mainland Japan would be the best locale choice for a sequel.
