I understand why some dislike Pachter and his "predictions" but honestly I find it fascinating to occasionally listen to a different perspective on the gaming industry. Sure, there are instances where I think he's an idiot but I'm willing to admit that he is definitely more knowledgeable about the financial aspects of the industry.
Did an article really need to be written about this? People in comments say silly things all the time, I don't think it warrants a rebuttal.
And also, while the PS4 has no chance of outselling the Wii U's lifetime sales in just a month, this author is clearly biased while calling out biased commenters. Keep it objective or don't use the "B" word.
Any console that gets a game from thatgamecompany is lucky. Such a wonderful group of game makers.
Nintendo just needs to stop. They have always been proud that they operated in their own bubble and are quick to point out that they don't pay attention to their competitor's, but now Reggie is trying to quantify the Wii U's position in the console "war" by comparing it to the PS2...
The Sega Dreamcast launched a year earlier and was $100 cheaper than the PS2. Why isn't Reggie comparing it to that? The Dreamcast actually had a great launch window, bu...
Of course you are able to do whatever you want, but KILLERAP's point was why would somebody invest in a console with so many negatives and a company that is very difficult to be confident and trust in. You're entitled to buy whatever console you wish, but considering everything it is a questionable decision - especially a day one purchase.
Ok, achievements are not better. What sounds more gratifying, "I got 1000 points" or "I got the platinum trophy?"
Just saying.
@2cents
So the "real world" consumer sees Twitch.tv and SmartGlass?
Your two cents doesn't seem to be worth much on this topic.
The cheaper one, of course.
It wouldn't surprise me if 17 millions people downloaded the app, it is free right? If I still had my Xbox 360 I'd download it to try it out.
I'm not going to make fun of Microsoft for this. It seems like SmartGlass hasn't caught on, and the idea that I'm going to be watching a movie and want an app that tells me about it at the same time sounds kind of, useless. However, for all I know there is potential I haven't thought about.
That ...
It is sad that a lot of people will completely blow off the game (I haven't played it, but I like all variety of games). But, it's the misleading and sometimes outright lies that are making people upset.
I mean, Microsoft more or less said Halo 3 and Assassin's Creed 2 were the first two games available. Considering how old the games are (and Microsoft published Halo 3) I don't understand why they didn't just give those games away like they said they would...
I really am beginning to believe Microsoft is conducting a social experiment on a massive scale. Otherwise, I can't understand how they can make this many mistakes in such a short time period.
It's getting to be more sad than funny. Luckily, it's still in the funny stage :P
That doesn't mean they can't put the headset in with the console. I'd be willing to bet they won't retail for more than $20, and considering they really need to sell the idea of a console that is $100 cheaper than the Xbox One I would hope they would try to pack in as many things as possible. Last I checked, they weren't packing in a HDMI cable either (which the PS4 reportedly is).
Pure and simple there is no justification for the headset being sold separa...
I think you're underestimating just how many people used those mics. Sure, plenty of people eventually upgrade, but there were tons of people using mics the first couple years of the Xbox 360. Meanwhile, there still aren't that many people who use mics on PS3.
I'm not saying it's only because the Xbox 360 ships with a headset, but I do think it plays a huge part.
So is this site advertising for eBay or something?
SPOILERS FOR THE LAST OF US AND MASS EFFECT 3 SPOILERS!!!!!
I don't mind if a game has a sad ending, or a bittersweet one, as long as I feel like the game laid the foundation for the ending and it all fits together both emotionally and logically. To me, the perfect example of how to do it right is The Last of Us. First of all, it is most certainly not a happy ending, but a bittersweet one. And it is setup by the great character development between Joel and Ellie, including h...
I like my coffee black and strong. What about you?
The title of this article is ridiculous.
Well I did say 1st party studios. Wonderful 101 is being developed by Platinum games. Besides, a couple games here and there just don't cut it for me.
The release of Mario platformers has been mostly reasonable. Sure, they are starting to feel "cookie cutter" but that trend has only recently started.
My issue is the reliance on the Mario IP, especially in light of the lack of new 1st party IP's for Nintendo home consoles. Even though there are a dozen completely different games set in the Mario universe, whenever I see a Nintendo wall of games at GameStop and a third of the games are from the Mario universe I ...
The Xbox 360 had a failure rate of 50 percent. Not a hack that sent the network offline for a couple weeks, not a small percentage of bricked consoles due to a patch. Literally every other console got the RROD (many went through multiple RROD's).
So yeah, good for you!
