Why is the pacing poor? To establish a more frantic pace or have a series of smaller combat segments would undermine the deliberate pacing. Because it starts off slow we aren't given a false sense of action; but instead, we get to naturally grow along with the characters.
As far as countless annoying glitches, I encountered only a few. Maybe you were less fortunate than I.
The stealth mechanics were actually pretty brilliant. The "super hearing"...
Good thing you're here to set the record straight!
Wait, who are you?
I think the whole, "It's a 7/10 or 8/10 which is still a good score," is a cop-out. An 8/10 is a good score for a game without high expectations or much fanfare, but for a game that has more perfect scores than any other on Metacritic an 8/10 is a bad score for the game unless the review does a good job of explaining why. This review does not, in my opinion.
In fact, it's kind of embarrassing in my opinion.
I tried to give the writer the benefit of the doubt. I understand that the bulk of the sites that post on n4g are from amateurs, thus there are varying levels of quality both in writing and overall intelligent opinions. However, this is just a bad review - and not because I inherently disagree with the score.
Some of the negative arguments are just, odd. The writing in this game is poor? There is an emphasis on action? Human enemies "fire endlessly" (which is hyperb...
Best you've ever seen huh? Your sarcasm is pretty strong o.0
But, Perfect Dark Zero right?
Right :(
I don't completely follow. If Konami still has the data from MGS, or at lest the voice over files, wouldn't they own the rights to publish it as long as they own the rights to MGS?
That's how I see it at least. If Just Add Water had to rehire the voice actors and redo every line it would probably be too expensive to make.
If I'm missing something obvious I'm sorry :)
I've read that Atlus shouldn't be in trouble to close down with this restructuring, but if they do need a new home I'd love Sony to bring them in. Atlus has some great IP's.
Yes, this would be awesome! I don't know why some commenters are acting like they are going to get all new voice actors or change how the game plays. All they would do is remake the character models and backgrounds and, if Kojima wanted something slightly altered or some option to tinker around with, then they would put that in.
I'd love to get a MGS1 platinum :D
Now I wish we had the option to delete 0% trophy progress off our profile. I hate seeing 0% on DCUO and knowing I'll likely never get a single trophy for the game.
Does it deserve it? Let's see, the launch Xbox 360's had a 50% failure rate. Microsoft tried to implement numerous anti-consumer and inconvenient restrictions on the Xbox One. It's more expensive. Need I go on?
The Xbox One deserves one thing: caution from consumers.
I ain't your guy, dude.
In my mind I was trying to formulate some ironic joke about posting "Last...of Us" instead of first and be self deprecating about it.
Instead I'll just say The Last of Us is brilliant.
To anybody who can accept The Last of Us for what it is (a Survival/Horror game in an old school, Resident Evil sense with a heavily character driven narrative) then I think the vast majority agrees this is at least a great game - if not a gaming masterpiece. Sadly, there are those who simply cannot and will not ever be able to enjoy those types of games. It is sad, but I can't fault them for it.
A game like Half-Life 2 for example is much easier to get the mass appeal fo...
I feel bad for people who get an Xbox One over the PS4 because of the "power of the cloud."
At best, it might have the most dedicated servers for games (only a possibility) and have some niche functions for cloud computing that will generally not even be all that noticeable to players. Improving graphics, performance, and things like this simply are not possible at the moment nor the near future.
However, I suppose if people want to believe in the p...
Confirmed, only three exclusive games for the PS4!
Thanks for the reply :)
I know my friend plays a lot of Star Craft II and watches commentary, but I don't know a lot about it personally.
I don't keep up with the eSports scene, how big of a deal is this to SCII and MLG?
Before the revision she did look a lot like Ellen Page. Now there is just a resemblance if you want there to be because Ellen Page has "one of those faces."
"A perfect score implies a game that is as good as it can be. That's not the case for The Last of Us. It could have been better, fairly easily. It could have used more QA testing."
And you call me obtuse? There is a definite difference between assigning the highest score possible to a piece of entertainment and ascribing it perfect. Not just video games follow this principle either. Your statement implies that the highest score implicitly means a perfect game, w...
