The thing about the Sony shooters this gen is they generally had a really good to great campaign. Killzone 2 and 3, Resistance trilogy, Uncharted, etc. However, there isn't a single multiplayer that's truly caught on compared to the biggest shooter fanbases around. Although, Uncharted has a pretty good player base.
What Halo and Gears both nailed was a great campaign WITH a great multiplayer. I've never been big into multiplayer myself. but even I had a point in m...
I think the extent of the Xbox One's spying will be equivalent to how YouTube finds recommended videos for you. I don't think there will be anything all that shady going one, and I've been outspoken about not trusting Microsoft or it's console - not in a tinfoil hat way, mind you!
If, as unlikely as it is, Microsoft's Kinect will spy on you in some capacity, it will completely ruin their console division and hurt Microsoft tremendously. Maybe even irrepara...
Yeah, I thought this was obvious. Because of Xbox Live and the incredible attach rate early on pretty much every multiplatform shooter has had a bigger, more sustained player base. Also, as odd as this may sound, I think mics coming with the console made at least a small difference. Granted, what also happened on XBL is the proliferation of annoying/crude/racist language grew exponentially whereas on the PS3 it was far less frequent (usually no mics).
Microsoft's biggest ...
I was just thinking, I wonder how the Wii U and other consoles would perform if China was a legitimate market. I have virtually no insight into if this would be possible or likely in my lifetime given the very different culture China has to America. Still, it is an interesting thought.
Would the cheaper Nintendo console with much more user friendly, accessible games be a huge hit. Or, given the seemingly (apologize for relative ignorance) meager game options make the much shi...
Now I'm reminded of the obligatory mistaken characters jokes from anime where a character says something mundane in a sentence but another character confuses it with some insult or tawdry statement.
Honestly I never really found those jokes funny. Maybe it's because I'm American -_-
Honestly I think in 6 months the Ouya will be all but forgotten.
ZombiU huh? Wouldn't have guessed that.
For me it's Silent Hill 2. It is what I wish more Survival/Horror games were these days. To me the psychological horror genre so far outpaces the other types of horror. It's why Pyramid Head is so beloved. I really love Dead Space as well.
I'd be curious to know what the average is, but honestly I'd guess only 50 or so. I have 50 friends, a majority of them play at least a few times a week, and only two of them have a higher level than me (17 with 125 gold trophies). If we are including the PLENTY of people that play only Call of Duty or a select sports game every year, and not including cheaters, then there are probably a lot of gamers with only a handful of golds.
Now I'd say the average "tro...
I agree. Is it sad that what irks me the most is apparently winning bidders get a special avatar that says "Greatness Achieved."
I feel slimy just looking at it on RedSoxFan95's account.
This is sad. I was hoping for it to be more like a raffle, that way everyone had a chance to win and those with the most trophies would have a better chance. Even after learning it was an auction (where you don't lose your trophies), I had a little hope until I saw that even after placing a bid if you were outbid you just get your trophies back. So why are they telling us to bid strategically?
I'm not upset in the slightest, but I do see what this could have been. Ins...
I'm not saying it should be either. Personally I've never been interested in Kinect, although I will say I think the best environment for gamers is one with consoles that do things their counterparts don't. Having three consoles that are slight variations of the same thing is just redundant, and I don't want that.
Kinect2.0 isn't bundled with the Xbox One, it's a part of the system.
I get what you're saying, but I've seen leniency in proper nouns before, such as in my Christopher Columbus example. Now, there may be a different precedent for Final Jeopardy, where I don't recall Alex ever asking for a more specific answer.
"It would be like if the question asked about the man who wrote the Emancipation Proclamation, and you thought Mr. President was an acceptable answer."
Yeah...not at all actually. To my knowledge, there has only ever been one video game franchise with Zelda in the name...certainly the only mainstream one. To me it's like answering, "Who was the only president to be born in Vermont," and you answered, "Calvin." I don't watch Jeopardy anymo...
I think Vincent is a great protagonist because he isn't a white knight, moralist or anything. Considering the supernatural elements and clear anime-style his actions are reasonable enough to suspend disbelief and from there we can shape what happens.
Another example is Joel from The Last of Us. He, like Vincent, stands out because he doesn't make the "right" decisions all the time. Most of us, to varying degrees, would make the selfish or easy choice if we w...
Yeah, 1998 is in my opinion the best year in gaming history. In fact, I don't think it can even be argued against from an objective standpoint.
2013 is looking really good. We have two games (Bioshock: Infinite and The Last of Us) that I feel are all-timers, and at least one more (GTAV) that has potential to join them. In the end, I don't know if there will be enough all time great games this year to compare to the best couple years, but it certainly feels like a year...
I think it's 50% Microsoft and the Xbox One, and 50% Double Helix being a less than stellar developer (trying to be nice). What will help is every Xbox One owner will be able to play the game, though limited (only one character) for free and if it's good it will do well. Although, one point I would make is the success of the new KI, if it is successful, it will not show in traditional sales numbers but in online purchases.
Personally, I think it will turn out to be a ...
The fact is power matters, but it's not everything. The most important thing a console needs are games. Having the most powerful console can help. But it's really so much more complex than that.
Forget about Ryse, Zumba Fitness World Party will be the Xbox One's killer app.
Saying graphics don't matter is like saying music doesn't matter or animation doesn't matter. A game doesn't have to be the best looking game ever to be good, but it's reductive thinking to say they aren't important.
Simply put, would any game be better with worse graphics? No, it's absurd.
However, I WILL say art direction is more important than pretty graphics.
