Considering its on the Wii U; makes it an even bigger accomplishment. It shows that fans want Nintendo to step out of their comfort zone.
Develop some actual sports titles (non Mario - like NBA courtside, and Ken Griffy Jr. Baseball), and have other developers help them create more story-driven software with their own IPS (like Platinum with Star Fox).
Lol.
It's like going Six Flags and only going on your favorite ride. There's a lot of diversity on Nintendo's platforms - gamers (who ignore that fact) need to look outside the Mario/Zelda/Donkey Kong box to notice that.
Awesome news.
Off TV makes it even better.
You misunderstood me.
By ''cheap ports,'' I meant publishers not having to spend a lot of money porting games over to the NX, which creates a positive ROI (return on investment). Having exclusive content is already a guarantee (even the Wii U has its fair share).
Cheap/easy port = a small group of people (perhaps 1 one person) porting games over to the NX without fear of lost returns.
All they need is hardware competent enough to receive cheap ports (that way, games won't cost a small fortune to port over, and third parties will make a decent return). Bring back the Wave Bird; Gamecube sized controller (wired or wireless), with analogue triggers.
Online service with party chat, ''true'' account system, and an optional Virtual Console subscription service.
It's third parties who've dropped support for the Wii U - Nintendo's been solely (mostly) supporting the Wii U (like they did for the Wii).
There's already a good amount of exclusive content on the Wii U. It's a shame Wii U owners don't support Nintendo's tried efforts (ZombiU,Wonderful101, Bayonetta 2).
It's hard to say whether or not it'll be a good title, though it looks interesting. Hoping it does well (if deserved) for future Nintendo 3rd party support.
Everything's legit, though it needs clickable sticks. The ''C sick'' needs to be a real control stick, and analogue triggers too.
Good news.
I really want Monolith Soft to succeed, because they flourish in other areas Nintendo usually shys away from (voiceovers, fmv's, etc.). They should have the ''green light'' to produce whatever they want (maybe have a beta test program in place).
I'm a huge advocate of BC, and what Micosoft has done is nothing short of amazing (coding an Xbox 360 emulator within the Xbox 1? genius).

For one Tomb Raider is a very special case. The new game was originally not a timed exclusive and the franchise has the majority of their fans on PC and PS. It's called alienating the fanbase. It's like if Titanfall 2 would be a timed exclusive PS4 game or FF7 remake a timed exclusive Xbox game. Shenmue on the other hand isn't home to any of those platforms. There was the Shenmue 2 port for the original Xbox, but the sales had been horrible so there is a good ch...
People suddenly forgot about Bayonetta 2 and the new Tomb Raider timed exclusive? People issued death threats - and, I quote - ''I'm not buying a Wii U to play B2.''
People were literally shouting how evil Microsoft was for ''money hatting'' exclusive games and content, though Sony gets no flack for doing the same thing. People hated the Xbox 360 because the online was gated behind payments, though now the PS4 is, and now? It's just; &...
I like this idea.
It can mean big things for Nintendo. Maybe it's time to buy more stock (^o^).
Wii taking over, one Unit at a time.
Great news.
Congrats to all those involved.
It's being kickstarted, so it should be releasing on multiple gaming platforms besides the ones listed (Xbox one, and Wii U). Sony isn't paying the full funding necessary, so they shouldn't have the rights to a console exclusive.
Bayonetta 2 was fully funded by Nintendo; Wii U exclusive.
Shenmue 2 funded by Microsoft; exclusive.
Shenmue 3: kickstarted, Private 3rd party source funding, Sony. It unethical how the how thing came to ...
I agree, and I'm hyped about this game also.
Going off topic here, isn't it a shame how "certain gamers" only care about negative news? Tons of degrees for acticles stating Nintendo's failures, and barely any for upcoming future Wii U titles as epic as this?
Management is really letting this place go.
It's hard to be the voice of reason, here at N4G. It's as if Sony controls all forms of the media industry.
Neogaf is N4G 2.0!
I feel a like scared russian living under Vladimir Putin's rule.
Hey; if you ain't crying, you ain't trying. :P
Honestly speaking, they do need to change a few things (Region locking, Party Chat, software discounts, achievements), but they have their heart in the right place.
For Nintendo to be Sega; they'd have to drop support for the Wii U early (which Iwata stated - they won't), and continue that strategy for future hardware if sales are abysmal, making fans ask a question to themselves; ''why shou...
