Arguably, indeed. Resident Evil 4 is not a Resident Evil game, in my opinion. It's not a true Resident Evil game in any sense. It's an action-adventure game with horror elements that had the name Resident Evil attached to it for the sake of money alone.
Resident Evil is a survival-horror series. Or at least that's what it used to be. Now it's becoming an action series with only slight threads of horror strewn throughout. It's a travesty, too, because...
I agree for the most part, but I also think special credit should be given to the REmake on the GameCube. I still don't think any games (that aren't named Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly) have attained such a gripping and terrifying atmosphere since then. REmake was one hell of a game.
How ignorant. Time and time again it seems it needs to be said: graphics do not make the game. That's the problem with this generation. Most of the games do amazing graphics over innovative gameplay.
If you're talking about the actual gameplay looking bad, I suppose they haven't aged perfectly, but they're nothing less than classics of the genre. Donkey Kong looks primitive on the NES, but it still manages to be great fun, and the arcade version is still o...
They're still going on with this series?
...ugh.
I'm all for sticking to a successful series, but Dynasty Warriors if the Mario Party equivalent to the hack and slash genre. Way too many games, and none of them do anything different. Doesn't sound like this one will be different at all from the last 6, and that doesn't even count the ridiculous Gundam and whatever other spinoffs they had.
I guess this is neat for fans of th...
What the hell is wrong with you, trounby?
Unfortunately it seems to be par for the course in this generation. It's becoming way more of a popularity contest than any other generation before it.
With Activision shutting down every game series that's not called Call of Duty, Warcraft, or StarCraft, I think this is quite apparent.
At least some developers are still trying to bring us fresh ideas. Hudson was one of those until Konami bought and shut them down. But Atlus is a great publisher th...
Oh yeah, I did see that. I was strengthening my point that Nintendo is the one company that seems to be holding onto the tight community ideals of local multiplayer. I thought I made it clear that I root Nintendo on for doing this with their multiplayer: Have tons of split-screen/same screen multiplayer games.
I wasn't talking about online Co-Op at all... I'm strongly for local multiplayer, and I really dislike online multiplayer. I love the games that you play in...
I have a very deep respect for developers that go against the grain, and especially ones that hold on to memories of the past. The Wii is the only console right now that I enjoy playing multiplayer on. Why? Because it's a callback to the old days, when we used to call our friends over and crowd around the N64 or whatever console you were playing with.
Is it a bad thing to be stuck in the past? Some people argue so, but I believe differently. I think Nintendo should b...
I feel like I'm in the minority for looking forward to shmups nowadays, but I'm damn proud of it. Shmups for life <3
This one's looking especially neat. I'm loving the colors and gameplay mechanics. Looks like another home run for the Shmup Land. :)
Exactly lol. That's ridiculous... How can they even let Microsoft do such business practices when the PS3 and Wii both don't need you to pay?
I don't quite understand why anyone would continue to use the Wii disc... I thought the word had spread already that it's no longer necessary, and really why would you need to use it now?
I would say it's because people don't have internet, but then why would they have Netflix Instant Watch? L...
I don't know... the way they're talking, they won't be going back to Ghost at all, as unfortunate as that is.
Even when they complete those two expansions, they'll probably have another excuse to not make Ghost. Like Universe of Warcrack, or something.
Gah... This is mega sucky. Hudson was one of the best studios that tiptoed on the line of mainstream but still independent. They brought us some amazing games :(
At least they ended on a high note with Lost in Shadow. In my opinion, at least.
I don't know how I feel about Konami buying them out.. I wonder what will happen now.
Wouldn't Killzone 2 be a better comparison to Killzone NGP? I would think the second game would be a fairer comparison since Killzone 3 is state-of-the-art and brand-spanking-new, and Killzone 2 is more in line with what the NGP version is.
I'm a straight male and I do not see them as a "sex object". Sorry to burst your theory bubble.
You know what I'm thinking of? I think it had to do with the save file. I think that's what I was thinking about. With the first Ninja Gaiden Sigma (not sure on the second game), you could not use a save file for any other disc but the one you saved with.
They might have changed that, though, but after reading into it a bit more, that's definitely what I was thinking of.
I was really rooting for this game, but this bad press, regardless of how much heart I take to it, is just disconcerting. :(
At least there are a couple good reviews here and there lol.
Speaking of locking disc-based games to one console, I think I heard something of that sort with Ninja Gaiden Sigma on the PS3. I could be wrong, though.
Something to do with you needing the game disc on the console you played it on, or something.
Indeed. Let's hope they don't do this for any future Mega Man games. :(
That's exactly what I was thinking lol.
This is seriously stupid. Maybe I can side with them a very slight bit when they do this to computer games, because most computers are more-or-less connected to the internet 24/7. It's still wrong to do that, but it's easier to defend it for the PC than it is for the consoles.
I don't know about all of you, but sometimes I like to disconnect my consoles from the internet so I can enjoy my games in pe...
Well with that edit, we now know what side you're playing for. Good job destroying any integrity your comment previously had, as little value as it might have held.
