I agree, when it comes to playing with friends, Halo is a special game. The fun physics and vehicles allow for some unique moments, other games like Call of Duty just feel too staged in comparison. The matchmaking system is excellent as well, the best implementation of it I have seen.
People can hate on Halo 3 all day, but the numbers who originally bought it and the people who flock back to it, close to 900,000 unique users ever 24 hours at weekend, despite releasing over 15 mon...
Actually for the 2 months before World of War released, Halo reclaimed its' top spot. I find many people play the CoD games due to the carrot and stick nature of the rewards, the gameplay itself is mediocre. This year I purchased World at War for the PS3 on the recommendation of my brother, well, this is the game I will trade in against Killzone 2.
If Halo is such a bad game according to PS3 fans, why is it always used as the standard by which other FPS games are judged on consoles?
I agree, the 'Halo-killer' tag is ridiculous, it's like 2 decent games can't just exist.
I love how PS3 fans worship CoD as the halo killer, on x360 people have the choice of CoD or Halo, they choose Halo. On the PS3 there is no choice, just CoD, jealousy springs to mind. I consider myself more inclined towards the PS3, but I'm also a big fan of Halo and Killzone 2 won't change that as it's a different style of shooter. I have the best option, to play both.
Yea sure, PS3 fans tell yourself, Halo 3 remains top of the Live charts even after releasing almost a year and a half ago. CoD was not the Halo killer many slate it as, you just want to pretend your happy without it on the PS3.
The Halo killer tag is plain stupid, I will be enjoying Halo 3 and Killzone 2 together for many years to come.
Deepobsidian, that's nonsense. None of those games you list come close to the quality of Bioshock, those games NEED the extras to make them worthwhile purchases 'X' amount of months later. Bioshock is a great game and only needs to present itself in its' original form to be worth a purchase regardless of when its' released.
I don't give a dam, what I do care about is the fact that the PS2 has the greatest library of games to ever graced a console. The Wii has sweet F.A.
I couldn't disagree more with this, 2008 saw some excellent original IPs, LittleBigPlanet, Left 4 Dead, World of Goo, Mirrors Edge, Dead Space, GRID, No More Heroes, Valkyria Chronicles, Lost Odyssey, Pure and Braid, all of which received respectable ratings. Hardly a small list is it?
Is it not possible to like Halo 3 and Killzone 2? They both offer a different sort of experience. Halo 3, especially with vehicles involved, is an absolute riot online. Killzone 2 will no doubt be great too, more tactical and a slower pacing. I like FPS games at both end of the scale and will continue to play Halo 3 along with Killzone 2 when it is released.

Gears got a 10 for graphics because IGN were probably comparing it to other 360 games and Gears has tapped the 360 to the max. KZ2 is on the superior platform with room for improvement (incredible I know) so didn't get quite as good a score. Really though, who cares? 9.4 is a great score and I can't wait to play it on the 27th.

Well this is too late for me, after 2 RRODs and 1 GPU failure, I moved onto pastures new (PS3), haven't looked back since.
You can't state that any electronics product is "100% reliable", as none are.
