I agree. However I think it's hard to stay neutral when you've worked on a game for so much time and see it get so much negative feedback from the press especially with all the hate the game got pre-release. I can definately understand that he tries to defend it.
I think he should try to focus on the positive feedback while keeping constructice criticism in mind and hope that it sells well enough for Sony to greenlight a sequel.
Wow. That's a really great video. The attention to detail is unbelievable.
I've just finished the game. Really enjoyed it. The atmosphere and attention to detail are really the strong points of The Order 1886. The world feels believable. The story is good even though the pacing could've been better in my opinion.
I really hope it sells well enough to make a sequel possible. There definately is a lot to improve on however I feel like the potential of this franchise is immenesly high. If they can take the strong parts of this game and give th...
I haven't read all the reviews of course but from what I've played it's not really a matter of it being a good game or a bad game. It is more about what type of game it is which is very linear and doesn't give the player a lot of freedom. It is very controlled and directed so to speak.
Large segments of the game are cutscenes or skripted events that require not much input from the player if any at all. The gameplay that is in there is actually pretty solid th...
Don't just look at the scores. Most of the reviews (I'm not talking about the extremely low ones) have a point. I've played about 3 and a half hours now and it really is a very directed game.There are a lot of cutscenes and while the third person shooting gameplay is really solid imo the rest of the gameplay sequences are scripted qtes.
It indeed is a very movie-like experience in that sense so it's definately not for everyone. But if you don't have a pro...
Totally agree with that. Still there is no way that this game is a 4/10. That's just pure disrespect towards everyone that has worked on it.
Admittedly I've just started the game and played for about an hour and a half but the attention to detail as well as the atmosphere in this game is awesome so far. It would need to fall of a very high cliff to come in an area where a 4/10 would be a remotely acceptable score.
This just shows how useless metascores are.
@traumdisaster: Oh I do understand. There's a difference between an estimate and a guess. I thought he might have played the game already because otherwise he would just be guessing how well the game will be received based on what he has seen from gameplay footage.
One thing I don't understand however is why you felt the need to call me out on a simple question I asked especially when DarkOcelot didn't have a problem to answer it.
I wasn't awa...
Not sure if serious...
Have you played the game already? I'm just curious how you estimate the metacitic score.
Also I agree that it's nice to hear that the game isn't just 3-5 hours long like some people have claimed. Anything above 5-6 hours I'm ok with.
I'll be getting my copy tomorrow. Looking foreward to it.
Now it'll probably flop because he pachtered it. /jk
Please try to avoid spoilers in the headline. I'm trying not to click on the Order 1886 articles but I can't really avoid reading the headlines unless I stay away from n4g.
Here's a pro tip: Don't like the type of game? Dont bother with it.
@AKissfromDaddy: I don't think there will be a 32bit version of Windows 10. And if there is I'm sure there will be an option to choose 64bit for the free upgrade.
Don't worry about RAM limitations. They are almost non existant on Windows 8 already.
I'm not entirely sure why we have a RAM limit from the OS in 64bit systems at all.
Yeah that's what I wondered as well. I guess it'll be home version for everyone. It could be depend on the version you're upgrading from. Like this:
Home --> Home
Pro --> Pro
Enterprise --> Enterprise
But I doubt it. Probably just the Home version for everyone which would still be cool.
I'm hoping for at least some game related announcement for the PC gaming crowd.
Besides that I'm watching out for Direct-X 12 and obviously Windows 10 details.
Agreed. Dispite using pre-baked last gen assets it doesn't run in 60fps. Not only that but they managed to screw up the 30fps on the PS4 version which looks juddery.
Whatever happened to quality assurance.
Wow. I wish I had your eyes. The animations of the PS4 version are juddery as hell. The frame-timings seem to be off but there seems to be something else that causes the judder. Maybe it's just an animation-bug.
Edit: Lol. I didn't realise that it was digital foundry. I just watched the vids. Going to read the article now.
From Software isn't a 1st party team though.
I think what he is trying to say is that you shouldn't review a game when you don't like the type of game because you probably won't be criticizing it for the right reasons.
If I had to review a Sim-racer for example I could go on about how the controls don't feel fun to me when compared to arcade racers because I like arcade racers while I dislike Sim-racers. That wouldn't be a fair review though because people that like Sim-racers are looking for the the...
