I think it is about evolving. Use the newest technology to make a system, so you have a foundation in architecture, and then evolving the system as technology gets improved.

I heard that Ken Kutaragi had opened a studio at Namco Bandai and that he was working on 3 PS3 exclusive's. I am guessing they are all RPG's?

The first 2 years was experimentation, this will only happen once in a console's lifecycle.
They now know the PS3 so they dont have to experiment or experiment as much anymore. They can now focus on making games.

At vega75, the cut-scene's can't be cut away, because they are in-game, it uses in-game assets. So cut-scene's themselves dont take up alot of space on the disc.
I guess you can cut the cut-scene's away, but it wont save you space on the disc.

The development studio, Media Molecule, is it a Sony studio?
Is it a first party studio for Sony or are they just making LBP exclusive to Sony's platform?

Nah, I think they are gonna dumb the PS3 version down. They are now gonna continue development for FF13 with the "oh, we're gonna have to port it to 360" mindset.
I think some stuff will get cut because of this, that otherwise would still have been in the game. But I guess we will never find out.
But of the 2 versions, yeah I think the PS3 version will be the better version still.
I am afraid Sony will save alot of the 'shock' for TGS.
