Xander, you have to understand that with a site with a name like 'psxextreme', there's not going to be much in the way of critical thinking about those kinds of things.

"The Big N kept saying that this was good for the game industry,"

It is good for the industry. Anything that keeps companies in business in this economy is a 'good' thing. Anything that makes money is, by definition, 'good' for the game industry.

"that all of these "casual" gamers would become real gamers and we'd see an uplift of the hardcore."

Well, that seems a little silly. I kind of doubt anyone -- neither the Ni...

Respectfully, I have to disagree with the video on a few points. Namely, given that we live in a market-economy, by definition, the 'right' path is always the path of greater profit.

In regards to motion controls, one of the things to keep in mind is that even some of the most half-baked, cheaply made games on the Wii often have multiple control set-ups, to varying degrees of success from a user standpoint. Some of the best selling games on the system (like Mario Kart) suppor...

Pfft. So Miyamoto utterly destroys the odd employee every now and again. Even if he were to physically beat them up, his presence would still be a net good for the industry as a whole.

I mean, how many employees would he have to put in a hospital with his own hands in order to cancel out the fact that he brought us Pikmin? I figure it would have to take at least a couple hundred thousand crippled developers before it even came close, and there's no way he's pulling those kinds...

It's a shame that Winter couldn't get published a while back. It sounds like it was way ahead of the curve on the whole 'horror game on the Wii' thing.

Some friendly advice: There's a button next to "Agree/Disagree/Report&qu ot; called "Reply". Sometimes it's a couple posts above the post in question. That's how everyone is managing to respond to posts in such a way that their response is nested instead of at the bottom of the page.

Also, there's a button on your keyboard called "Shift", which if you hold makes lower-cased letters in upper-cased letters. There are many cultures in which it is customar...

"And it'd be nice if people actually LISTENED to the podcast before reading a brief description and jumping to conclusions."

While it would be nice, if I read that counter right, 4:16:19 means that that thing has a run-time of four hours, sixteen minutes, and nineteen seconds. Requiring everyone to have an hour (let alone almost four and a half) to spend sitting around listening to guys talking is simply not a reasonable expectation.

I could think of a...

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System and Jet Force Gemini top my list of sequels. Both had sequels planned, but Blizzard and Starcraft Ghost killed any chance of the former and the partial disintegration of Rare and its subsequent assimilation by Microsoft killed the latter.

I'd also engage in ritual human sacrifice if it would get me a proper sequel to God Hand.

Strange, given the site, I was expecting them to pull the Zelda CD games.

Maybe they just blocked the memory of those out.

"How many people own a Wii? 50 million or something? That's .002% of console owners."

Your notation is flawed. It's either 0.002 times the install base or 0.2% of the install base. Taking a number expressed in decimal notation and adding a percentage sign to the end of it creates an entirely different ratio. If the game had sold 50 million, then it would have sold 100% of or 1 times the install base; not 1%.

Inasmuch as a rail-shooter that's had a portion of its development sub-contracted to a developer who's made almost nothing except licensed games for the past decade can be a risk, I suppose.

"With so many different types of games, what are you most looking forward to?"

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars.

Contra: Rebirth, which I'm hoping will be stateside by then.

Seferoth75, let me see if I can frame this in a way that you'd understand.

Do you remember when Edge or Eurogamer or some place gave Killzone 2 a 7/10 or something and then some site released an editorial to the effect of saying it was the result of bias, and how the magazine was unprofessional, and how giving the game a 7/10 was somehow worse than the holocaust? Do you remember how silly that editorial was?

Please don't be the Wii equivelant of that editorial in...

"Do you like this game or something?"

Not particularly, no. I thought it was rather mediocre, personally. I don't think that has any bearing on what other people think of the game, though.

As in, a game that *I* thought was fantastic that got bad scores? Well, one of my favorite games of the last generation was a PS2 game called God Hand. If I r...

"If you have to know, review scores typically give people a GENERAL idea of what to expect out of a game. Obviously opinions differ but if there is a game out there that gets low scores, it got them for a reason"

By that logic, if a game gets high scores, it got them for a reason. Mario & Sonic received both low and high scores. If you believe in places like Metacritic or Gamerankings, this results in a merely 'average' score.
