It's a shame that Echoes is often so unfairly maligned. Its boss battles alone are enough for me to regard it as the best of the trilogy.
"Your only real hint as to the location of a particular key was a faint outline of the key’s container when using the Dark Visor in the light world, at which point you would find the nearest portal and shoot down the container in the dark world."
Er, no. Aside from the Dark Visor outline, all of the rooms holding ke...
"They make crappy 3D Sonic games...Do they really want to go bankrupt so fast?"
Statement B does not follow from Statement A. Those 'crappy 3D Sonic games' have probably made Sega more money than almost all their other games this generation *combined*.
Well, as Marvelous has yet to let me down, I'll be keeping an eye on this one should it head stateside.
"how you describe RE2 you don't know the story that well"
In all fairness, it's not worth knowing, as not even the people who write the games care about it.
"wait did you just diss RE2 story?"
I believe your definition of the word 'story' is markedly different from my own. To illustrate, I do not consider the following a 'story' per se: A city is turned into zombies by some kind of evil pharmaceutical company; god knows why the FDA lets it stay in business since its medicine has the nasty side-effect of turning people into giant eyeballs and stuff. We eventually find out that this company is run by some sort of insane tra...
"that's gameplay related problems they butchered the story"
I find that hard to believe; to butcher something, it has to exist in the first place.
"You basterds , you fvcked it up you butchered it damn you damn you to hell for butchering RE2 & RECV"
Look, I'm as much a fan of Resident Evil as anyone, but we can't very well go back and rewrite history. Let's not seriously pretend like the pre-4 games are these flawless, untouchable masterpieces. With the farcical approach to camera-placement? The puzzles that weren't even so much puzzles as ridiculous scavenger hunts? The leaden tank controls? The 'horror' as...
Ha, sorry about that, Ar. Free time has been getting kind of hard to come by with all the games I'm playing through right now. :)
"Do not tell me you forgot No More Heroes 2 and Arc Rise Fantasia, please tel me you didn't."
I don't think he forgot; he was just listing the first and second-party games. Desperate Struggle, Arc Rise Fantasia, Monster Hunter Tri, Tales of Graces, etc. are all being developed by third-party companies.
"Manhunt 2 didn't fare well on any system"
Um, then why bring it up?
"Games like No More Heroes, Deadly Creatures, Dead Rising: Chop 'Till you Drop, MadWorld, House of the Dead: Overkill and most recently The Conduit have attempted to show that the Wii isn't just for kids. What happened?"
What happened? No More Heroes reached Europe, where it moved enough copies to make its publisher exclaim that they were 'weeping with delight...
"Of course they have to worry. Nintendo can try to put up a brave front as much as they want but their potential to get the next generation of casual gamers is in jeopardy."
That you think they honestly *need* to get the next generation of 'casual gamers' is quaint, really. They've already made about as much money off the Wii alone in two years as Sony made off of the PS2 in eight. Think of the terrifying scale of that business.
"With out it their ...
"I just saw an article on N4G yesterday or the day before saying it has already sold over 1 million copies."
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. This is why people on here start posting "Game X only sold Y number of units in Z number of days! Failure!" after every major game release, no matter how well it sells or doesn't.
Technically, that article only said that Capcom shipped a million copies to stores. Obviously, that means Capcom's projectin...
"In Capcom's case "lazy" is actually being VERY kind imo."
Um, no. I explained above why it's not lazy. You can argue that making a rail shooter is a cynical, or greedy, or whatever, but it's not like the developers are saying "Oh, we *could* make an FPS, but let's make a rail shooter and then take a nap for the rest of the day".
"In Capcom's case "lazy" is actually being VERY kind imo. You think it's easier or harder ...
"I see it as the developer being lazy"
That's kind of an unfair way of looking at it. Okay, it's a valid position to like having movement control, but there are dozens of alternate potential reasons it could be a rail shooter that have nothing to do with whether the developers are 'lazy' or not. The people developing the game are accountable to supervisors and producers and publishers -- any of whom have the power to override any part of the creative process and prior...
Shnazz, people getting riled up over exclusivity and games going multi-platform is hardly a Wii thing.
"Why can't the devs and pr just say, "yes, it's wii exclusive" rather then even entertaining the concept for even one moment."
Because situations change. If the game sells only two copies, there is no company that wouldn't at least *consider* a port, no matter how half-baked or poorly done. Or sometimes technology comes out so that an altern...
"You can all rattle off your own reasons and anecdotal evidence as to why the Wii is a viable platform"
I'm not a particular fan of anecdotal evidence myself, but given that the case against there being a market for certain types of games on the Wii essentially boils down to Game X or Game Y being 'a huge financial flop', the standard for evidence being used by anyone isn't exactly high.
"on paper, the Wii doesn't provide the return for third-party...
"Keep in mind right now Sony has two Home gaming systems out (PS2 an PS3) as well as the PSP. That means they make 3 times the money an Nintendo makes 2 times"
Er, that's not how 'making' money works.
This past year, Nintendo made an operating profit of what would be equivalent in the US to five and a half billion dollars off of the Wii and the DS. I can't seem to find information about the 360's profits this past year, but year before that, they saw an...
"Hmmm BlastWorks is hardly a classic"
I'm not quite certain what that's supposed to mean, but no game that lets one design his or her own old-school scrolling shoot-em-ups and then share them online, Little Big Planet style, can be called 'underwhelming' in good conscience.
"The bottom 10 has a collection of underwhelming titles..."
I take exception to that; BlastWorks is a great game and I've lost count of the hours I've put into it.
"If you're looking for a purchase you may want to avoid the games on this list."
raaaaggee
Um, didn't Capcom release a report before the game launched that their lifetime sales expectations for the game were around two million worldwide?
So in other words, they're nearing the halfway mark on that after only two weeks?
Yeah, I'm sure they're completely *devastated* by this performance.
