"Sony hasn´t lost money on any PS3 since August 2008, where have u been?"
Uh, yes, they have. Sony's games division posted a half a billion dollar loss in 2009 alone, and the Wall Street Journal reported that the PS3 was still being sold at a loss as recently as two months ago.
"Nick you are blind there is a third console in the race called Nintendo wii which is in first place"
Nintendo systems don't count.
"Surely Sony will have consoles on demand by then... right?"
Unless they raise the price, there's not much they can do in the near-future to produce substantially more consoles each month than they currently are.
"The shortages definitely suck, but I expect to see a surge once GT5 releases. I'm not underestimating that game for one second."
I beg your pardon, but a surge in what? In people who want-to-but-can't buy PS3s?
There's plenty of hype for Galaxy 2. The best kind of hype -- 8 million plus copies worth.
4.12, 4.13- Many thanks. It's always nice to see other people on this site who appreciate how businesses actually work.
"Sony are not trading commodities here, if they increased the price of the PS3 they would be ruined beyond belief."
Yes, because people would scream "Price gouging! Help! Help! Protect me, nanny state!" and it would a PR disaster. Hence, why Sony does not raise the price.
This is of course means that there are ...
"A shortage is a shortage of SUPPLIES. Sony did not have enough supplies to meet the demand."
Yes, because at a PRICE of 300 dollars, Sony can SUPPLY approximately 300,000 PS3s. If Sony raised the PRICE to say 400 dollars, they would be able to SUPPLY a lot more than 300,000 PS3s and would therefore meet the demand.
"I'm not sure where you get the product is priced too cheaply from."
Sigh... From the very definition of what a sh...
Well, nobody's perfect. ;-)
"Why didn't Sony increase production of PS3 before FF13 and GOW3?"
That would be a good point if it made any sense whatsoever.
This will likely go over your head, but there's this thing. It's called 'the law of supply'. And what it means is that at a given price point, Sony can make a given number of PS3s at a given speed. It's not a matter of pushing some button that magically produces PS3s out of thin air and instantly transports them to store shelves...
"why is it taking so long to translates tales of graces ?"
What makes you think it's being translated? The fact that the closest thing we have to an official announcement was some random unconfirmed report by ONM does not inspire much in the way of confidence.
"what happenned namco??"
With the exception of Nintendo, Bamco probably has the worst localization record of any major publisher, and always has.
"Extremely stupid of them with the shortages."
What? That's not how shortages work. A shortage just means that the product is priced too cheaply. Sony could (and believe me, they'd love to) end all PS3 shortages immediately by bumping up the price.
"It's just unfortunate that the shortages hit at the same time as major releases."
That's not unfortunate; that's basic economics. If you have an item selling at a price point where ...
As much as I'll miss those absurdly huge mounted gun-shells from the cabinet, this is great news.
Now all Sega has to do is release a Virtua Cop bundle.
"Now, if they can get this game onto Oprah's show, and just have her play it..."
She's had murderers, racists, child molesters, and politicians on her show before. Alas, it seems she thinks bringing on an enthusiast of a wildly popular gaming franchise would be crossing the line.
Oh, there were commercials for other products, but Tri definitely had the highest volume. Now that I think about it, commercials for the episode itself (it was the 200th one) also said 'Episode sponsored by Monter Hunter Tri' or something.
"Have you seen the Monster Hunter 3 commercial on television? If so, what station/program was it advertised during?"
Funny you should ask: Tonight's entire episode of South Park just now was brought to viewers by Tri. *Tons* of commercials for it.
"The only two publishers who has a probability of releasing this to Europe are Sony themselves or Square Enix"
And in a classic example of expectations vs. reality, the European release is being handled by Namco Bandai.
Does an arcade port really count as 'New'?
"Traditional Sonic gameplay"
Yeah... About that...

Yeah, that's part of what I'm banking on. I don't ordinarily like to pre-order games (unless it's like a SMG 2 sort of deal where it will never ever have a price cut and pre-ordering for $20 off is really the only sane choice there), but my Wavebird's finally showing its age, so the CCPro deal really has priority over the spare M+ I'd get from the Red Steel 2 bundle.
"Now he's just an extortionist"
The world would be a far better place if more extortionists made people as happy as Miyamoto's games make them.
