If you want, Nintendo can be either Rocky *or* Communism in the example. That's the beauty of the analogy.
"Nintendo isnt sony or ms. Ninty dont pay up for exclusive 3rd party."
Right, and this is a large part of why the Wii's third-party release calendar for 2011 is a veritable wasteland. On the bright side, Nintendo seems to be understanding the reality of the situation and appears to be changing tactics.
Granted, they did not explicitly moneyhat Capcom for Tri (that we know of) but it is very well-established that a huge part of the game swap...
"I just wished the Wii HD was here to see this epicness in 720p..."

"But I'm pretty sure the only reason Madworld bombed was because it was on the Wii and not on a console whose playerbase could support it."
I might agree with the assertion that an audience for Madworld doesn't exist on the Wii, but the theory that that audience exists on any other consoles strikes me as somewhat dubious. Old-school brawlers in general seem to be a fairly unpopular genre, and I say that as a fan.
Just look at GodHand, t...
Yeah, that looks about right.
I was going to get Red Steel 2, but then I went with Tri instead because it seemed like a more efficient allocation of funds in the long-run. The RS2 motion plus bundle should be below $30 in a couple months, so I will probably pick it up then.
"There is no MadWorld 2, there is no HoD:O 2 and so on. Why is that?"
Why is there going to be a The Conduit 2 when of the three it had by far *the* worst critical and commercial reception? Because Sega is a terribly-managed company.
"Yes, indeed, Namco-Bandai has a North American publishing branch. So, again, what is the hold up on these Tales titles? Money? If so, why not farm the localization out to other studios who specialize in localizing Japanese titles?"
Politics. Say hypothetically that the localization decision is handled by one man called Company Executive A. He believes the Tales games will never take off in the West and says 'That Tales game will never do well in the West'...
"we will all be welcoming sony into the second position"
This might be right or it might be wrong, but I'm trying to see how it particularly matters in the grand scheme. Why is there significance being placed on holding 'second place'? The situation as it currently stands -- with most third-party support going into multiplatform 360, PS3, and PC development while exclusives become increasingly scarce -- is more or less going to be the status quo for th...
"The other side of it is if you want to play PS2 games buy a sodding PS2"
This would be a valid line of argument if the *entire focus* of the system were not consolidating living-room entertainmnet features into one convenient monolithic entity.
People saying things like 'I don't want to play PS2' games are really missing the point, as individual preferences are neither here nor there when it comes to whether or not the market regar...
"This spot could have easily gone to Silent Hill: Shattered Memories but I can’t think of a game more worthy of recommendation than Sin and Punishment 2."
Yes!!
"I'm just amused that people are using "hardcore" to describe a game with such a decidedly cute protagonist"
That is why they have to give him angry eyebrows in the American boxart.

Man, I miss SoCal. Could have gone to this and had my picture taken with Naoki "Very Very Excite" Maeda.
"Sony should come out and count sales of their NBs, TVs, Mobs, ps3 and p2"
Sony PR used to count PS3, PS2, and PSP together as "The Playstation Family", but then the family was in a tragic car accident -- one of family member was lost, while another is on life support. Very sad.
Nintendo is pulling the 'Nintendo family' card, now?
I can only imagine that that means there is going to be some heavy drinking at NOA HQ tonight. :/
Hoping DQ9 continues to do well.
"An audience that did not care about having all the flashy bells and whilstles or extra horsepower."
Can we really say this with certainty? The system has been a marvelous trojan horse for peripheral bells and whistles at least. Relatively few Wii-owners 'needed' a weight-sensitive scale before Wii Fit and the Balance board came out, or a Zapper before Link's Crossbow Training, or a Wheel/Motionplus/Classic Controller before Games X, Y, and Z.
"Because it's disgusting and unnatural. And God hates lefties"
But the issue the article is focusing on is that normal, non-mutant players have to emulate south paws when using the bow. Why must Nintendo choose to persecute the right-handed so? Have we not suffered enough?
"The Legend of Zelda series... has never produced a bad game"
I beg to differ.

The article also neglects to mention that Sega's gaming division ate a loss this last quarter too. They were profitable overall because of their business in the pachinko sector, which coincidentally is not subject to the exchange rate losses that basically kneecapped most of the major Japanese players in the industry.
"On the Wii side they might very well be approaching saturation, most people that want a Wii have a Wii."
Except Wii hardware...
Are we not counting games like Muramasa or Boy and Blob because two-dimensional graphics are inherently inferior or something?
