I disagree. They were very uninspired compared to Vagrant Story, FF7, FF8 and Xenogears.
Video games are art. Let them make what they want and you can vote with your wallet. Tlou2 has more of what I would call thought provoking adult themes than any movie I have watched and it is all the more impactful because you are an active participant not just an impartial observer to the events.

Something can be "finished" and still unacceptable in 2023. When it drops to 20 fps in every gun battle then you will notice it's unfinished.
I only have so much time to game. I'm not going to waste it on a AA game that's poorly optimized with ugly character models and janky animations.

It doesn't actually track them at all times. It tracks them as a certain distance which is why if you like enough stuff in skyrim when you come back the area it will all jangle and explode as it's dropped back into the play space. Assigning a 2D location to an object takes very little power to achieve it's just a mess so most devs avoid it.
