Only some media outlets are saying the PS4 is more powerful. Those are from the outlets that don't understand what a custom APU is.
The gaming media just regurgitate what they read from 1 site and then spew it to get hits.
Other sites say the very opposite. Sites that actually KNOW what they are talking about.

I agree it looks much better, however I still think the touch pad is a useless gimick to put onto the controller.

I blame the media for writing articles per-maturly because they don't understand this themselves, which then feed the ignorant false information where they then spread the mis-information on sites like N4G when they themselves don't understand what they are saying.
I had to buy The Lord Of The Rings Battle for Middle Earth used 4 years ago because they stopped making copies of the game for consoles.
So, if developers stop producing a game, how do gamers get to experience them?
Sometimes you have no choice to buy used if it's a game that is no longer in production. How is that like piracy to developers?
I think you need to rethink your argument.
I can't wait for all the Sony crowd on this site to become upset when MS announces their next console and reports start coming out of the woodwork from the media and developers that MS indeed released a much better/stronger/efficient console. Then when MS price points the console just under the new PS4 and once again MS capture the majority of the market share once again going into next gen as they did this gen.
Oh how I can't wait to read all the lame duck excuses h...

Why talk about games when the topic is about over all entertainment system?
The 360 has a larger gaming library then the PS3 so it's obvious the games are there. MS is just also point out that as an entertainment system, the 360 has more to offer then the PS3.
Not every topic has to be just about games. Heck when the PS3 first launched Sony was marketing the PS3 as a blu-ray player instead of a gaming console

touch sensitive on/off and eject buttons
auto loader
overall better material used for the design
Well the PS3 was announced at E3 2006 and released a year later in Europe and North America in 2007 so announcing a year early is pretty customary for Sony.
Also Don't forget all the over promises of Sony made about the PS3's spec's and showing game footage that never saw the light of day. Sony Always changes their system specs between announcement and launch. Whatever Sony shows on Feb 20th, expect a different console come release in 2014.

From the rumoured specs I have read, MS console is more powerful. I guess people on n4g are still thinking that ps4's off the shelf parts will be more powerful then MS custom GPU's.

What do you mean where they could have put that money? MS is not Sony. MS has more then enough cash to support kinect as well as make new ip's. what you don't understand is that MS have a business plan and that is to make money and not spend 10's of millions on new it's that don't sell.
They have their core titles that they know sell well. Maybe next gen we will see more core titles maybe we won't. I have no problem playing halo, gears, forza and ...

At least MS releases their numbers....Sony has to rely on 3rd party "estimates" which are still lower then what MS has "shipped" and Sony has to combine PS2 and PS3 numbers to make it look like PS3 has shipped more then it really has.
Either way, the only number that matters is Market Share and MS is ahead of Sony in that department as well.
I already have my pre-order. Don't really care if they add Gears 1, 2 or 3, I already own each one already.
Gears is this gen's best best new ip 3rd person shooter franchise (Mass Effect a really close 2nd) so it only makes sense to purchase this game and complete my library.
Not many games like the Gears of War games give you so much content in the single player, huge multiplayer, large battle environments with multiple paths to complete it.

I said sony would do this. Now like i also said be prepared to pay for it as well. Ps+ and gaikai will be combined for a paid subscription. You will be basically paying a rental fee to play the games on the ps4 that you bought for the ps3.
How else do you think Sony will make back the money they spent on buying gaikai?
