The new slim will temporarily shuts down BEFORE any RROD-type damage occurs IF it gets too hot.

I also agree that your 60gig PS3 is still the best feature-per-dollar PS3 made so far.
I don't defend MS in its decision to rush the 360, but in the end, MS is a software company first that make some hardware.
Sony is a hardware company first that makes some software.
Both have issues with what they make, but both also seem to redeem themselves.
Other than the ONE photo of a system that had an early shutdown (before any damage), prove that the new 360s RRODs.

That number was from an on-line poll. No facts to back it up, no actual numbers from MS or any repair center, just opinions on-line.

This is not RROD. period.
This guy has a bad power brick OR something is wrong with the voltage coming from his outlet.
Believe me, we all know that this new 360 is going to be looked at under a microscope by all the gaming world to see if any problems become commonplace, but two systems(that I have seen) have a power supply problem and a overheat shutdown(before failure) does not mean a trend.
A red light on the power brick means the power brick is either bad or not getting the proper voltage(probably the old power strip).
If you are talking about the actual manufacturing of the original xbox, Nvidia held the patent to the gpu and they stopped production in late 2005. MS had no choice but to stop selling since they could not continue production without that gpu. MS never owned the rights to the design.
This is why the 360 was built with 100% MS patents and design. this is not a NEW 360, just an updated 360 with all the same capabilities (except built in wi-fi)

MS was already placing orders for the new cpu/gpu single chip (Valhalla) design in May of 2008. That is roughly a year and a half before the PS3 slim.

I can play the exact same games on an Arcade as an Elite.
And yes, I can go on Xbox Live and play games online. It does only have 256mb on-board memory for storage though.
What did you have "fixed" that was supposed to make your xbox quieter? You do realize the disc spins at 12X speed, and that just loading the game onto the HDD virtually eliminates any disc spin sound.

Earlier today, I got kicked out of a game, then I logged back in (with no problem). It then informed me it was "updating stats".
When the game resumed, all of my upgrades were gone. My stats were still available to look at, as well as showing that I had upgraded weapons, but when the game starts.......it's right back at the begining as though I just logged on for the first time?????!!!!

It happened to me today! All upgrades on my gamertag are not accessible but all of my stats are up to date.
When I log on, I am a 1st level starter with no weapon upgrades available.

Microsoft will enable usb storage, but only 16gb on one device with a total of 2 usb drives for a total of roughly 32gb.
That may change in the future, you never know.
